I still feel like some of vandegrift's visual design is lacking from a BOA perspective (a critique of the show not the kids) but darn can they march and play. Some of the most balanced sounds I've ever heard. On a uil score sheet the other lisd needs to watch out.

I'll never understand why uil results can be so ridiculous some times. O'Connor over leander in music?... Southwest over vista in music????? Strong stuff music judge two was smoking.

WOW, that leander show is cooking. I know I'm a Homer but that show is just so entertaining and cool. The new electronic stuff added throughout the closer and the and the visual tweaks made throughout the show are perfect. It's just wrapped up with a bow and I love it.

Seems all of our Texas schools will be going on Friday morning, from 8 am to 1 pm. Leander goes on right after tarpon springs so an easy early comparison is cool.

There are actually 4 more spots at the San Antonio super regional so id be pretty shocked of round rock doesn't get one of them

After seeing Johnson a couple days ago at a game I think the show is really coming together but still needs a fair amount of work in the cleaning and polishing department. As for Reagan I've got no clue. I've seen a partial video from conroe but not enough to make a conclusion on how I think they will do, I know it'll be well the question is how well. On the subject of Leander I completely agree. I was getting a tad nervous about them staying in the medal range for nats but after seeing the amount of improvement and additions made in one week I feel fairly confident that if they keep that up over the next two weeks that they will stay in medal contention.

I'm really pulling for Hendrickson to make it in finals. The only thing I like seeing more than a first time champ is a first time finalist.

I'm very excited to see what ctj has on the field in San Antonio. I also feel like the show they are doing is so difficult that it affected their start but once it's all down its gonna be killer.

Some cool scheduling things allow for some easy comparisons. Vandegrift ctj and Reagan and nearly one after another and leander performs just before flower mound. So excited to see all of Saturday live. Wish I could catch Friday but hey college is important.

Except flower mound could not have practiced more than 8 hours a week...if they are they risk being disqualified from uil.

To clarify I in no way said flower mound was uncatchable. I simply said that due to how ahead they are it'll be difficult for the other three to catch them but definitely not impossible.

After seeing Leander's full show sans props I think it has a chance to catch flomo if it's cleaned incredibly well. That being said it's a tall order for Reagan,Leander and Ctj to get clean enough by San Antonio to catch flomo due to how clean they already are. But beyond the top of finals, I'm incredibly excited to see what happens in the bottom 5 spots or so. Based off Austin finals we may see vista break the top 10 or a number of bands who either haven't made it in a long time or have never made slip into finals. It's gonna be crazy.

Cedar parks complete show from a rehearsal is on YouTube under the channel bjconnpac. I really love how this show has come together, the closer is great and man can they play. It's gonna be interesting to see where they land in both San Antonio and grand nationals. Personally I don't quite think they will medal at either but they are a probable upset for top half at both events in my opinion.

Okay so super early probably very inaccurate and slightly biased predictions but hey I thought it'd be fun to put scores and everything 1st Flower mound 95.20 music, GE 2nd Leander 94.15 3rd Ronald Reagan 93.85 visual 4th Claudia Taylor Johnson 93.65 5th Cedar park 92.9 6th Hebron 92.85 (the curse continues) 7th vandegrift 92.75 8th Marcus 92.35 9th woodlands 91.25 10th Round Rock 91.00 11th LD Bell 90.85 12th vista ridge 89.15 13th Hendrickson 88.35 14th Keller 88.000 So I think one of the big head scratchers in my predictions is vandegrift's placement. Personally I could see them as high as 3rd, but I think with places 2nd through 5th all trying to peak as late as possible with grand nationals around the corner their scores will increase drastically over these last 3 weeks.

A little off topic but since there is no topic up for the contest, cedar park just narrowly beat vandegrift at the Texas marching classic. The shake ups continue

I think flower mound is a huge threat to take gold and vandegrift is a huge threat to steal a medal(probably bronze but could be any of the three)

Looking at that 2003 fact makes me excited. While in my mind heck would freeze over before tarpon gets fourth at nationals it would be cool to see 3 of the Texas bands we are sending get the top 3 spots in one of the rounds.

I don't really see any of the lisd bands as "new comers" though. They may have not been to 6a uil but both leander and vandegrift have beaten bands in the top bubble at other contests in the past few years.

I definitely agree that great bands excell at both I'm just saying that just because hebron and Marcus exhibit lots of musical difficulty doesn't mean vandegrift has a lesser chance at winning state
