Umm people have not been talking about Vista Ridge enough! This is my first time seeing them and it was super impressive. Top 5 imo. -

I got most of it but it cut off at the end of the closer I did get Marcus though -

On a laptop. I do have an ad blocker, so that might be why. I didn't think it worked with video though. -

You can't tell me that isn't capable of taking it all in two weeks. Just amazing, such an emotional show from Hebron. Even in Texas they're on another level musically. -

Even at 7 in the morning Marcus is the cleanest group I've seen at this contest so far. Rich ensemble sound in every note and each movement whether it's drill or body is so precise. -

Agreed. Can't wait to see what Marcus, Hebron and The Woodlands bring tomorrow! -

Hmm that seemed good but kinda low energy from FloMo? I think I might be switching to Reagan for the gold, then again I thought the same of CTJ in 2017 for prelims then they knocked it out of the park in finals. -

Just some formations and foot timing in some areas. The way Vandegrift presents themselves really exposes their performance and nothing they do is easy so keep that in mind. It was extremely good! I just think they have another level which is good for these coming weeks. -

I think they need it, there was a good amount of dirt in there. I'm sure they'll put on a clinic at Nationals. -

Absolutely agree about the arms race thing. I also think its insulting to talented groups like CTJ practically saying they can't play loud enough normally. They don't need it and it seems unnecessary to me. -

Can't see Hendrickson placing this high with how their seasons been going. -

Due to the difficulty of their shows Avon typically sounds kinda rough early on. They really don't pull it together until Nationals. That being said I doubt they take music with how some of the Texas bands are playing.- 1,093 replies

I'd bet that on Reagan winning visual. The complexity and cleanliness of their visual program is just a step ahead of every other band in Texas. -
The difference between BOA and UIL based events is much more than just the absence of GE. The parameters for evaluating music and visual performance have entirely different standards in the separate circuits. Programing to specific sheets matters, it has nothing much to do with lack of talent. Avon has all the talent in the world but I think they'd find themselves struggling to medal at 6A State based on how they approach show design.

Definitely top 5. They were pretty much a disaster at BOA Austin and scored very well regardless. Probably the group I'm most excited to see progress. Top 3 is in reach but it'll be pretty steep. -

Holy heck I think that was the best Homestead I've ever seen. Not the cleanest performance but they are going for it. Super intense and exciting stuff. -

Any given Sunday, or Saturday in this case! I'm also saying this more than just blind Texas homerism, just don't think the overall design of the show is THAT strong. -

Disagree about playing for second. That was very much beatable. -

Imagine having a world class guard, wind section, drumline, and visual package and ruining it with horrendously cheesy narration. Sorry to be salty but it really ruins the good in this show for me. Ugh. -

Very different from the stuff you see in Texas, but very enjoyable. Probably the best singers I've heard in a marching band!
