  1. Reagan 2nd in music over Vandy and CTJ definitely had me do a double take
  2. I think it would be really funny if this Mandarins prop showed up in San Antonio finals for the next 20 years
  3. Leander has my favorite music selections of the year and easily my favorite ballad, Woods in the starry sky is so sweet! I'll be honest I didn't think this show had much legs at the beginning of the season but they really improved to give us that fun Leander production we all love.
  4. Hebron is just crazy good, they are absolutely in contention to win it all here. Their visual program is a lot better than people on here give them credit for. Super exciting drill and I love seeing the colors unfold from the pens as the show progresses.
  5. Well the judges sure agreed on Round Rock! That might be the first time I've seen a consistent placement across all 5 judges in UIL!
  6. Yeahhh Broken Arrow is gonna win Nationals. I'm usually not their biggest fan but man that show is relentlessly good.
  7. Carmel's music is absolutely gorgeous. Avon has such an impressive visual program too, nothing quite like we have here in Texas. Overall I think I prefer Flower Mound and Reagan though. It will be really exciting to see how everyone compares at Indy!
  8. I do agree about that, I think Hebron will take sole possession of music with a better performance in finals.
  9. They were pretty spot on from what I saw.
  10. The funniest part of this is Round Rock literally has a rehearsal today with Gary Markham, the Chief judge of Bands of America. But they aren't trying enough to get feedback ?
  11. I was bored so I timed the amount of show each band in finals had on the field. Unfortunately I couldn't time Bowie due to Box5's streaming issue that night. This includes any pre-show to the very last note. 1. CTJ - 12:14 2. Rouse - 7:44 3. Cedar Park - 7:28 4. Weiss - 7:18 5. Vandegrift - 6:56 6. Westwood - 6:55 7. Leander - 6:35 8. Cedar Ridge - 6:23 9. Vista Ridge - 6:12 10. Westlake - 5:54 11. Round Rock - 5:48
  12. Man Westlake came to play, they sounded fantastic.
  13. As someone who's made some pretty tactless comments in the past, I agree with this. There really isn't any need for trash talking or dogpiling in the realm of high school marching band. If you don't believe the things you say about a program, which ultimately consists of a bunch of kids doing something they love, needs to be taken into consideration then you need some self-reflection on your part.
  14. Marcus has to be the answer to me. 2 BOA San Antonio Regional Championships, 3 UIL State Championships, 2 top six finishes at Grand Nationals, 8! top seven finishes at SA, 6A Honor Band, their worst finish at San Antonio after losing one of the best Band Directors ever was 11th! Didn't miss a single state finals either. You could argue they've slowed down in the latter half of the decade but they've been in the thick of things regardless. Oh yeah and they have one of the best colorguards in Texas. Blammo.
  15. ...y'all have some soul searching to do.
  16. Man I can't see how such wonderful arrangements of Orawa and Rocky Point Holiday can make someone sleepy. The ending with the transition to Somewhere Over the Rainbow is one of the best musical moments I've ever heard. The drill is so fun to watch too.
  17. Agreed, Leander is talented enough to not use as many bells and whistles as they do. The use of props and the colorguard is great, but I'd like to see a music and visual book akin to Color Study. IMO they haven't made a production that has surpassed that show in terms of design.
  18. Hope they take a page from Vandegrift and fix that VGE weakness. They'll be really unstoppable then.
  19. I think the individual captions is where judges reward the substance and difficulty points, as Hebron was first in both of them.
  20. Round Rocks Music GE scores in Semis lol
  21. I told y'all Avon wasn't unbeatable
