McNeils show is too cute. It makes me very happy.

This isn't a UIL situation where those tend to leak. You're better off trying to find the nuclear codes than BOA prelims results before the end of the competition.

All of these bands would most likely be National finalists this year. I feel very strongly Leander will still make it.

Consistent moderation would be a big help.

"Better" for a source material can be a pretty subjective thing. I think two groups can use the same piece of music in different ways and produce great results. For example, I really enjoyed the samples of Orawa Avon used in 2013, but I also enjoyed Leanders usage of it the next year. I don't really compare the two because the arrangements are in a whole different context to produce unique results for each show. That's really the beauty in arranging to me. No doubt Round Rock will incite thoughts of Babylon by playing Metropolis with a Peter Gabriel ballad though. I just caution those who are quick to judge a high school group to a DCI world champion.

I really love how Cedar Ridge incorporates their school colors into a great color palette for their show. Such a visually appealing group to watch with the pendulum sets and everything.

It's definitely been more of a trope recently. As long as woodwinds aren't hidden away for large chunks of show I'm pretty ok with it.

I wouldn't describe band members waving bright flags "shoved in the back" but I guess every human has their eyeballs.

I think it's a great moment and very fun! Probably my favorite moment of the show.

Lucas Oil stadium with its nearby convention center is a far superior site to host a competition than anything Texas has to offer.

Feels like there should be more Oklahoma bands that come down to San Antonio than there is. I think their state contest usually coincides with it.

I'd be pretty skeptical about The Woodlands placing that well too. Amazing band, their track record in BOA speaks for itself, but historically they don't do quite as well at State.

Let's gooooo Region 18 my goat. I love intense competition but there's definitely at least 5 state worthy bands here that deserve to advance.

Yeah the Class 4A announcement made no sense. There should be a tie breaker between Bowie and Dripping Springs, so one of them got 2nd and the other got 3rd. And if they were perfectly tied some how, why wouldn't you announce 3rd place?

A sure finalist unless another band comes up and stabs them in the back.

Disappointing but makes sense. Still an amazing accomplishment and season for those young marchers!
