  3. Wow, this lineup looks as good as just about any BOA. Hebron, Waxahachie, Keller, SLC, Wylie, Lake Travis, Keller Central... The list goes on and on but this is a great lineup!

  4. I will report on the Canyon kids faces when Hebron and many of the other bands perform in finals. We don't get to see that in the panhandle

  5. I completely agree. I would also tentatively add Clear Lake, Klein Cain, Cy Ranch, and JET, to the mix. I have been really impressed with all of their early season showings. Depends on how they all clean and refine these next two weeks. Very deep contest.

    UIL 6A Area I 2024

Date: November 2,2024 Location: Berry Center CFISD - Cypress, TX (Confirmed) The UIL Area contest is less than ONE months away! This year, it's expected to be one of the most competitive areas in Houston. Will there be four state spots after three high schools moved down to 5A? Can Jordan overtake Seven Lakes or secure their first state spot? Will we see a repeat of last year's top 4? This area might be unpredictable! UIL Region 23 Katy Mayde Creek James E. Taylor Cinco Ranch Morton Ranch Seven Lakes Tompkins Paetow Jordan Bellaire Westside Lamar Elsik Heights Hastings Alief Taylor (Non-Varsity) UIL Region 27 Cy-Fair Jersey Village Cypress Creek Langham Creek Cypress Falls Cypress Springs Cypress Ridge Cypress Woods Cypress Ranch Cypress Lakes Cypress Park Bridgeland Memorial Northbrook Stratford Waller Total: 32 Schools

  13. Ive been loving the representation of other states in these competitive competitions in Texas (BOA Prosper as another example), it makes me wish in a vacuum that Texas was a little smaller or that transportation technology and expense was better, but Texas must be big to fit as many HEBs and Buccees we can lol

  15. I was planning on going to this contest but we ended up having an afternoon rehearsal on that Tuesday. If only Lewisville ISD had a similar band showcase…

I'm so glad to see you kids talking about other schools and their shows! I'll be looking forward to seeing all of you perform at UIL Area I!

  17. The battle is going to be in the bottom 6-7. There is a lot of depth there (in alphabetic order) with Brazoswood, Clear Brook, Dawson, Dickinson, Foster, Friendswood, Fulshear, Klein Cain, Klein Oak, Seven Lakes...among some others. Three or more of these bands may potentially not final.

  18. Woah… OK Lake Travis!! Fun to see an ATX band come up to DFW for a local comp. Excited to see how they stack up against similar echelon groups like SLC, Pearce, and Keller Central.

It is the BOA model. So to expand what Sideswipper said. Basicallly the random draw shared above is still relevant, but also depends on if you finished in the 1 to 5 position in prelims or the 6 to 10 position. The top 5 would use their order in the draw to set their finals performance time but are guaranteed one of the last 5 performance slots. The bottom 5 would perform in the first 5 performance slots but the draw would determine what order in that that they perform. Edit: along with helping ensure the top prelims bands perform in the later slots this now tells the public who the top 5/6 prelims bands were. The directors always knew, but now most of the general public will have an idea. Hope that helps.

  20. This will be my first time attending a BOA comp, I've almost always only gone to UIL comps instead since my band (Plano Sr) never went to BOA at least while I was there. Does anyone have a quick rundown of how BOA could differ from UIL comps, or is it gonna be largely the same?

I’m very curious to see how D-vills does. Them and sachse are the schools I’m most unsure of where to put them when I’m making a prediction for a contest.

Yes if you were to line up the numbers 1- however many that's the order. If a band doesn't qualify than they adjust the schedule but they've always done the drawings long before the contest for area, mainly so the directors and kids can prepare early for any super early call times

  28. LS- Sounds amazing. They might even sound better than Wakeland this year. Their brass are killing it this year. Needs some visual cleaning though. LT- Sounds pretty good this year with a pretty interesting show. Needs a lot of visual cleaning as well, and they definitely could play louder. Indy- I didn't get to see them Heritage- They have a fun show, and I really like the train. But to be honest, I don't remember much of their show. Memorial- I really enjoyed their show. They pretty good for this early in the season. I know these others won't be at Melissa but: Wakeland- It's Wakeland. Hard drill that's pretty clean, clean music that's decently loud but kinda easy. Look good sound good. Panther- Look pretty good visually. One of the harder 4A shows I've seen. Needs some work playing wise, but they are probably gonna win state this year. Emerson- I love their show. So quirky and fun. Love the props and interaction with props. Super duper cool this year.

  30. Honestly, with Jordan having massive improvement in the past few years, I wouldn't be surprised if they place higher than Seven Lakes.

  32. This might be the most competitive TMC ever! Will post preds the week of but my God this lineup is insane. Posting tiers and then will discuss. Locks: Vista Ridge Round Rock Leander Rouse Ronald Reagan Vandegrift Almost guaranteed: Westwood James Bowie Dripping Springs MG Johnson Last 2: Forney Cy-Woods Hendrickson McNeil Possible Finalist: Winston Churchill Brandies JBA There are going to be some usual finalist that won't make it here. I'll be at Prosper this day, but God for anyone who can go to this comp, you should, because it will be insane. So many possible upsets and crazy results can and will happen here. So excited to see how this one turns out.

  33. Ive seen Lone Star this year, and the design of their show has gotten much better, and is visually cleaner than it was even in early competition season last year. If they can continue to improve at the rate they have they can really place high. Definitely a dark horse in the race this year!

  34. I think that one year with Lipman will set them up nicely to sweep captions next year. It won't be like 2019--they'll be an unstoppable force by the time they decide to go.
