Monday, Oct. 7th @ 6:30pm @ Gupton Stadium (200 Gupton Way Dr, Cedar Park, TX 78613)

What a great opportunity to see:

  • Vandegrift (Defending BOA Austin Champ & HR #3)
  • Leander (Defending BOA SA 3A Champ & HR #6)
  • Vista Ridge (Defending UIL 6A Champ & HR #10)
  • Cedar Park (Defending UIL 5A Champ & HR #20)
  • Rouse (Defending BOA SA 2A Champ & HR next 10)
  • Plus rising star Glenn and the LISD Middle Schools
Should be a great evening and I believe they will be doing the combined all bands on the field at once at the end thing too!!
Crazy to think that THAT many LISD bands are defending champions of something or other!

This is such a great event. It's a lot more relaxed than a competition. The middle school bands make this a lot of fun. Last year they put up the most incredible wall of sound when they put all of the high schools and middle schools on field to play together.

Yes, it is SO much better now that the middle schools don't perform from the track anymore (between high school performances).  That always made me sad because so many high school parents would pound out of the bleachers during the middle school performances, once they had watched their own school.  And you couldn't even hear the middle schools  due to the level of noise from these HS parents leaving all at once.  Now everyone pretty much HAS to stay until the end, and the end is SO GOOD with those middle schoolers and all of the LISD high schools performing on the field together.  It's been such a great change!

At the RRISD Festival on Monday (was my first time going to that event),  they would have 1 HS band do their show and then the MS feeder bands for that school would join them on the field and both HS and MS bands would play 1 tune together.  It was also really great and kept things moving quite nicely.  It started at 7 and we were out of there about 8:30.

I'm hoping that Cedar Park does their full show. I just watched a run through this evening. The finale is more powerful than the opener. It twice brought a tear to my eyes.

Hopefully they all will have their whole show ready by Monday! I’m so glad this is a week later this year!!

Cedar Park did not want to put on the part of the show they learned last Thursday. It wouldn't be fair to the kids or to the people in the audience.
