Crazy to think that THAT many LISD bands are defending champions of something or other! LeanderMomma 1 Quote
principalagent Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Well I suppose Rouse technically can’t defend their 2A Class Championship anymore. Quote
Samuel Culper Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Instead of defending, try "reigning". LeanderMomma 1 Quote

MikeKyu Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 This is such a great event. It's a lot more relaxed than a competition. The middle school bands make this a lot of fun. Last year they put up the most incredible wall of sound when they put all of the high schools and middle schools on field to play together. Quote

Last year they put up the most incredible wall of sound when they put all of the high schools and middle schools on field to play together. Yes, it is SO much better now that the middle schools don't perform from the track anymore (between high school performances). That always made me sad because so many high school parents would pound out of the bleachers during the middle school performances, once they had watched their own school. And you couldn't even hear the middle schools due to the level of noise from these HS parents leaving all at once. Now everyone pretty much HAS to stay until the end, and the end is SO GOOD with those middle schoolers and all of the LISD high schools performing on the field together. It's been such a great change! Quote
jmj Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 At the RRISD Festival on Monday (was my first time going to that event), they would have 1 HS band do their show and then the MS feeder bands for that school would join them on the field and both HS and MS bands would play 1 tune together. It was also really great and kept things moving quite nicely. It started at 7 and we were out of there about 8:30. LeanderMomma 1 Quote

MikeKyu Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 I'm hoping that Cedar Park does their full show. I just watched a run through this evening. The finale is more powerful than the opener. It twice brought a tear to my eyes. gregorydf01 and bandtingz 2 Quote

FaultLineBlues Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Anyone else feel like the Cedar Park scrims kinda look like they say Jcarus? Quote
Samuel Culper Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Don't know about that, but I do feel like where they stopped the show tonight was an incredibly awkward spot. Quote
MikeKyu Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Cedar Park did not want to put on the part of the show they learned last Thursday. It wouldn't be fair to the kids or to the people in the audience. Quote
MikeKyu Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Wow! Vandy laid one down tonight. Incredible! Quote

Popular Post LHSbandDad Posted October 8, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted October 8, 2019 What an amazing exhibition performance by all LISD bands tonight!! Here is my two cents worth (in performance order) GLENN - first year with four classes and they seem to be improving so much year over year. I think they are definitely headed in the right direction and in a few years will be a force to be reckoned with!! ROUSE - another band on the rise and their sound gets better each year. I am so happy with what I heard tonight, especially the brass section!! LEANDER - I think our band is in as good of place as we have ever been at this point. We have some cleaning to do and need to finish our closer but we are right on track and will be ready for San Antonio and Indy!! CEDAR PARK - I have always like the crisp and clean lines of this band and they are putting together another great show. Will be nice to see how this one ends with the closer. VANDY - I am glad they are part of #TeamTexas because I think they have as good a chance as anyone to de-throne Carmel. They have the whole package and were amazing to watch and listen to!! VISTA - if they are having a "sophomore slump" I sure don't see it or hear it!! They looked and sounded amazing!! At times it did seem like a soprano sax concert but at least she sounds incredible!! Of course the highlight was the Grand Finale with all the six HS bands on the field at the same time with the eight middle school bands playing a stand tune.
