Because some Texas biggees are going and a lot of the GN regulars are bowing out. They figure why bother and are headed elsewhere. A bit depressing if you ask me. For once I would like to see an actual contest between the best of the best.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the slew of bands from other states choosing GN-South as their Grand Nationals contest of choice rather than "GN-North"
