Pre123 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Bowie is pretty much confirmed. Director has been talking about going in 2026 ever since they just missed out on finals in 23. lost 1 Quote
lost Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 This year would be a good chance for newer groups to go. Seems like a less heavy attendance year. Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Okay well since there was that craziness going on in the other forum, congratulations to our Team Texas bands last night. Yes, I can understand the frustration about Flomo, but it’s nothing we can control and staying positive is the best move. Flomo in 2nd is such a huge accomplishment, congrats y’all on your highest placement and two captions!! Other big one is Dripping Springs in 9th over some big powerhouse bands, y’all really showed out this weekend. Marcus in 7th did surprise me a little but it just goes to show how deep this comp was. I’m still so sad I didn’t get to watch but I’m beyond proud of how everyone did, a super historical night. And congratulations to Avon on the 3-peat! It’s insane that the season is already over despite it feeling like it started last week. I myself only have one (possibly two if we somehow make a bowl game) more times marching, so this week is very bitter sweet for me. But, hopefully being out of school means more in person comps!! Congratulations to all on your fantastic seasons, can’t wait to see what next year has in store. Until WGI, peace ✌️ Quote
packwick Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Moe and gene should go if they can fit it into their schedule. WanderingTraveler and slowbrass 2 Quote

To be honest I’d like for them to wait it out a bit. This is going to be their first year in 6A and they need at least a year to grow into that conference before piling on a nationals trip. Quote

Add in the fact that, next year, UIL 6A State will be taking place as the same week as Grand Nationals (with BOA San Antonio presumably the weekend before 6A State), and I would imagine that that would be beyond exhausting if they were to go to all three contests. Then they can wait until 2028 probably. Fundraise a bit, build up hype. There’s no sense in rushing a trip to nationals. Especially when their recruitment pipeline is really solid. Last time a band rushed into nationals from Leander we got the tragedy of Vista Ridge in 2021. DalSom 1 Quote

Similar sitution with Argyle - they moved up to 5A, but remained 2A at BOA for last couple of years ---so might not be much different for them in BOA yet? Just a thought. Quote

Where did you see I was talking about their BOA classification ? That comment was entirely unrelated to their BOA classification. You seem really confused. Quote

Considering the cutoff is 1850 in 10-12, they might linger in 3a for a year or two…depends on the freshman class size. BDC 1 Quote

I'm not confused - but they still may be 3A in BOA, even though they are moving up to 6A UIL,so Grand Nats won't really change anything for them. Plus, it's Rouse - they will be fine at state in 6A even in their first year. Slowbrass actually answered my question, though! Thanks! Quote

Given the move to 6A in UIL, they should wait a bit, digest that change in UIL, before making a run at Grand Nationals-- regardless of what their BOA classification might be. Makes sense to me. ETA-- and from what you said on the UIL 6A 2026 thread, it sounds like you have info that this is exactly what they're gonna do. Quote

They're being held to a higher UIL standard, and they've demonstrated great interest in being successful in UIL. It's not crazy not to double the pressure of succeeding in their first year in 6A AND Nationals, one step at a time. You have to just get better at reading between the lines, not everything is so obvious. BOA Classification has really nothing to do with it. BDC 1 Quote

And beyond all that that, UIL 6A State is late next year and 5A is early. That means 6A Finals are on Tuesday and Grand Nats starts on Thursday. None of the top 6A bands will be going. Quote
Pre123 Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Really curious how bridgeland managed to do uil state 6a finals and grand nats last year, considering state finals was on tuesday of the same week as grand nats. 6a powerhouses never go the year state coincides, both 2022 and 2024, so really curious how bridgeland managed to do so.
