[quote name='moose_eggs' date='Nov 15 2010, 03:13 PM' post='79028' We have seen the rise and fall of many schools (reagan, Hebron, Fossil Ridge, etc....) that have been suddenly very good, but then knocked out of the race by a new school opening (not yet in hebrons case, but soon im predicting a new school out there soon). Hebron, and really all of LISD, will not split anytime soon, if ever. The district has turned to opening freshman centers as opposed to opening new schools (Hebron's just opened this year). While the district continues to develop, Mostly in the Marcus, Flo Mo, Hebron areas, there probably wont be any new high schools. If anything, there might be a rezoning of Lewisville and Flower Mound High schools which are both (particularly Lewisville) overcrowded, but I doubt it. So, I'd say Hebron is here to stay.

Oof, I had Duncanville and Bowie switched in my predictions. If only the tie breaker had gone the other way...congrats to Duncanville on bronze btw, and Bell and Marcus of course. -

Don't get me wrong, Haltom is great, but i was surprised to see them advance to state. Even getting alternate would have surprised me. Their show just isn't up to par with where they have been. BUT, they are still a great band. Personally, I thought it'd be Marcus, Bell, Richland and Plano East with Hebron and Mansfield as alternates. SO, basically, i'm saying i would be quite surprised if they pulled off finals. -
Area B marching contest

Also, those two other state bands are in a different area. 6th place is nothing to complain about and i'd say its exactly where i thought you'd place upon watching prelims. Don't complain about it, Mansfield is a great band and just because a judge had you 16th in Music doesn't change that -

Tough break for Pflugerville missing out on finals due to a tie-breaker. All band results this year are just shocking me. Very odd. -

QUITE surprised at scores. I didn't get the chance to see the first two blocks which includes "finalists" Bell, Marcus, FM, and Martin, so i'll ignore them for now. Hebron was pretty good. not great, and most definitely not beat Bell great. Plano East was AMAZING especially considering the hurricane conditions they marched in. I was REALLY hoping they would qualify. Richland is one of my favorite shows this year and i really don't understand why it hasnt been doing very well this season. Haltom left much to desired, and i was shocked that advanced. Mansfield seemed about right in the rankings. Grapevine was quite good and i'm not surprised at all to see them finish in the top 10. Personally, of the bands I saw that were finals contenders, I had them ranked as follows- 1. Richland 2. Plano East 3. Hebron 4. Mansfield 5. Grapevine 6. Legacy 7. Haltom 8. McKinney Boyd 9. Allen even when you throw in earlier bands that i didn't see today like Colleyville, Martin, Flower Mound, Marcus, Bell, I find the final placements incredibly surprising. Just my opinion, and congrats to ALL bands competing and state qualifiers Marcus, Hebron, Bell and Haltom. It was a pleasure to host you. -
Area D Marching Contest

As I recall, they did not stand still for their show. They were amazing and although I'm not as familiar with Area D bands, I find it hard to believe so few people have them advancing to state. -

Forgot about Legacy. They def have a shot at an upset. It's a shame we only have 4 advancing this year. -

Carrolton TOC 2010
bingogooberman replied to fitecho063's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Fairly certain there are no time penalties at TOC, so their score was accurate. -
Having seen vandegrift a week ago at arlington, I find it a little hard to believe that they got 3rd at Houston beating amazing programs like Reagan or The Woodlands. It was a good show, but it's really shocking. I don't get it, but then again, I wasn't there

I don't really think Colleyville winning would be a great upset. And judging by BOA, i can buy that they march less than 96 -

Birdville Marching Contest
bingogooberman replied to Euphonipwn's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Hmm, very small this year. Carrollton Tournament of Champions is the same day and we have 22 (i think) bands competing, so I guess that took a big chunk out of Birdville's normal competitors. -
