  1. I can assure no such rule exists. Newman Smith was 5A in 08 and moved down to 4A and got 7th in Honor Band and 6th in State Marching.
  2. The program says that both Galena Park and Edcouch-Elsa have 96 members, and it has the smallest finalist being Waxahachie with 122
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkVwnligSys Newman Smith High School prelims performance (even though it says finals)
  4. We aren't that big of a band. Overall, with guard and alternates, we something have something like 185-200. Although according to the program, we have 150, but i don't think that's accurate. The program had Azle with 240, Friendswood with 235 and Frenship with 230
  5. top twelve of ninety-something
  6. I wish our directors had done that. Normally they do, but this time they told us we got 4th due to judges preference essentially tying with Poteet and finishing 1 behind Dripping Springs. Then, when we found out we got 6th in finals and we were kind of bummed, not because we thought we deserved better, but because we had shown during prelims that we were capable of placing higher. Don't get me wrong, we are extremely happy to have gotten sixth in the state behind some amazing programs (Dripping Springs, Friendswood, Poteet, Wakeland and Hendrickson). On a side note, i don't think Dripping Springs was arrogant. I saw their drum major pretty much drop their trophy but i didn't think it was anyway out of line. Congrats to everybody who competed yesterday on a job well done.
  7. They marched their show without electronics at BOA and there were significant portions of the show that were completely silent and felt awkward (not their fault though). So, i don't really know what their show is REALLY like.
  8. thanks man, i was really shocked we did so well at AREA. I'm pretty sure we've never won anything before. We are all working extremely hard to make next Tuesday the best performance(s) we can possibly give. I just hope we can follow up all this success next year, cuz it'll be tough.
  9. this thread just provides a more direct outlet for multiple videos, without having to search everywhere. But yes, most of these shows are easily found on youtube.
  10. FINALS PREDIX (Random order) Roma Friendswood Newman Smith Dawson Dripping Springs Henrickson Wakeland Legacy Forney Poteet
  11. Newman Smith at UIL- couldn't find any videos of Legacy or any AREA videos.
  12. My Finals Predictions: 1. Newman Smith (yes i know, i'm biased) 2. Wakeland 3. Aledo 4. Birdville 5. Sherman 6. Legacy 7. The Colony 8. Centennial 9. Southwest 10. Timberview
  13. Im pretty sure it's gonna be 4. I think there are 23 bands (not sure though)
  14. Congrats to Birdville on Finals. Must say i'm a little surprised. They're a great group, don't get me wrong, but judging off of their 21st place finish at Arlington the week before, i didn't think it'd happen. Also, they beat PLD overall, place 2nd in class 3A behind last years grand national finalist Lafayette and take the music caption. Good luck in Finals guys!
  15. I wouldnt say that wakeland has it in the bag. I have seen their show and at this point, i would not say it's likely to be top 4, but could with 3 weeks of practice (assuming they make it to state) Most definitely not a lock though (imo)
  16. 11th! eff, so close. We can never seem to get into finals though. Did anybody see Smith? i'd appreciate some feedback.
  17. So Wakeland comes out on top of the Area B bands. Should be interesting to see where Smith, Aledo and Birdville landed (Legacy being in exhibition). Very exciting contest shaping up here.
  18. Good for Rowlett. They sounded amazing at TOC, still kinda surprised they didn't win Music in Finals (over Hebron)
  19. Pretty sure Friendswood was 6th in both prelims and finals. I believe Churchill was 9th in Finals
  20. Holy F, L.D. Bell went to T.O.C? Wish they would now.
  21. indeed, very interested to see where newcomers to BOA wakeland and birdville end up, and hope Newman Smith comes out on top and makes a surprise appearance in Finals . Seriously though, these 4 should be pretty close.
  22. Well i'm not saying North Shore isn't in finals contention, because they are, it's just placing them in a particular tier is a difficult thing to do, but i wouldn't put them in 3, but that's just me.
  23. considering North Shore hasn't ever competed at BOA or with practically any of the bands attending, I would go ahead and leave them off the list entirely since there's really no knowing where they'll place. Although, from what I do know about NS, i would say maybe you are a little biased (tier 3 is quite generous). While i'm at it- TIER 1- L.D. Bell Marcus TIER 2- Richland Hebron Haltom TIER 3- Berkner Ronald Reagan Cypress Falls Mansfield Coppell TIER 4- Conally Legacy Colleyville Heritage Newman Smith Martin Leander TIER 5- Fossil Ridge Creekview Aledo Birdville
  24. Aledo and Sherman are in Area B, along with Legacy, Newman Smith, Birdville, The Colony, Wakeland, Centennial, Timberview and Southwest (among others). THAT would be my area to watch.
