I don't see Poly making it. Our team played them last week and they didn't sound too good. I'm just glad that, if they don't make it, we still go before Sherman. I'd rather not follow them. Following them would mean that the judges might compare us to Sherman and I don't exactly like that. Anyway, Western Hills will make it. In fact, they might even beat us at Area if things play out like they did at Aledo. I'll know more about that on Friday. Our team plays them so we'll see their band perform again. Crowley seems like they should make it and I don't know about Everman. I've never once seen their band perform.

I'm just glad that we're before Birdville and you all. I'd at least like to see the bands that might end up beating us in the end. It bothered me to be beaten by Birdville at Aledo and not have been able to see them perform. I'm sure they deserved, I just like to compare.

Area B performance draw I'm pretty sure that's it.

I agree too. It makes it impossible for some bands that could probably make finals at state to even get the chance because getting out of area is harder.

I never knew our band was so unique. Our school has had first period marching band at least since our current director came 7 or 8 years ago. He was the one that kind of brought us out of the darkness. Before he came, we got 3's and 4's at UIL. It might be a valley thing though. That's where our two top directors come from and from what I've told my lessons teacher and what he's responded with, our school has some unique traits that come from down there.

I wish we could've gone to this. Our school is like dead poor though. I'm pretty sure we would win the award for smallest facility. Anyway, I'll be interested to see how Aledo and Sherman do. Mostly Aledo, though.

Sherman? I think they seem to be doing really well this year. Aledo's doing really well also.

I'd place my money on Sherman advancing too. As far as Area B goes, I think Sherman, Aledo, and The Colony will definitely advance. Not necessarily in that order. The final one or two spots are, in my opinion, going to be a close call between Birdville, Centennial, Southwest, and Juan Seguin. I've also been hearing something about Boyd possibly working their way into the fight also. Four or five bands for one or two spots is crazy.

That's definitely not good. How are the two students that were taken by EMS doing?

That's true. The more bands that make a 1 this weekend means that more bands can go to state. I can't imagine what it would be like to have less than 20 bands make a first division. Only taking 3 bands from Area B seems like a rip-off considering the fact that the top 8 or so bands from Area B could take a lot of the top places at State.

Good luck to you all also. I've felt so behind all the other bands since we haven't had our full show out yet. It's nice to know that other strong bands are in the same boat. Once we lay the last few pages of our closer, we should have our full show done.

Based on the results at Aledo, Birdville doesn't seem to be doing very good. They beat us but I honestly think we gain on them within these next two weeks. That is, if our band actually works as hard as we did today everyday. We're adding visuals tomorrow and we should have our final three sets for our show. Our ending was thrown together by the directors because our real ending wasn't finished. I don't know if we can pull everything off in time for Area. If we do, I think we have a shot. Right now, though, it's very iffy.

Maybe five spots if a miracle happens.

Area B is going to be an insane day.

Yep. The whole marching band has band first period which gives us more time out on the field in the morning.

We're on the parking lot and starting at 7:30AM everyday. Rehearsal runs from that time through 1st period which ends at like 9:20. Then we have one hour after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. If we have a Thursday game, then we have a one hour rehearsal on Wednesday.

Morning's still bad. It takes away about an hour and a half worth of rehearsal time. Oh well, as long as we still get the afternoon tomorrow. We're supposed to add a lot of visuals tomorrow.

Your director has some serious skill. I just hate how we haven't had to cancel a single practice because of rain until the final two weeks after a contest that proves that our marching needs the most work. It better not rain tomorrow.

Yeah, our marching killed us. Based on the music scores, we beat even Juan Seguin in prelims. That's not going to matter at Area, though, unless we get our marching better. We're still in the process of bumping up the tempo of our closer to 168. I think we marched at 168 on Saturday but we had just made the change that morning. Anyway, the weather is killing us. We need to get out on the field to actually work on marching but it was pouring this morning. If we can get focused and nail our marching down, I think we still have a shot. Otherwise, there's no way.

Tomorrow's the Aledo competition. I think the thing I'm looking forward to about it is finding out how we compare to Birdville. Sadly, I doubt we'll pull through. In fact, I don't exactly have a lot of confidence in us right now. Dead nervous too.

Our team is 6-0 right now. We beat Poly Tech HS last night 62 to 6. Our district is too easy. Way too easy.

Yeah. Centennial and Southwest both placed really high in Honor Band also. Centennial took second and Southwest took third.

As far as 4A goes, I think Centennial and Southwest are improving the fastest.

I'm just waiting for the Aledo competition this Saturday so I can see how our band compares to Birdville. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that for Area B: 1. Sherman 2. The Colony 3. Aledo 4 and 5: Centennial or Southwest

I think thats good for us. We need to march against Birdville before area competition. If they beat us, it'll give us a lot of motivation for the following weeks before area.
