  1. I can't wait to see them. I'll probably end up getting a membership on the BOA website so I can watch them. Honestly, I think they'll pull it off. I'm sure the seniors this year are ready to make the final leap into 1st place. They got 3rd when they were sophomores, 2nd when they were juniors, and now that they're seniors, I'm sure they are going to be pushing harder than any band out there for that Grand Champion title.
  2. I was one of two. Then she quit so I'm the only sophomore horn. Then there's two seniors, a junior, and a freshman. My sixth grade class had like fifteen horns. It reduced by about ten by seventh grade. Now, I'm the only one left from the original class.
  3. We had 5 this year. Our band marches about 150. I'm not sure if that includes JV or not. Anyway, this year was only 5 and two will be gone next year but we should be getting about 5 freshman next year. The largest number of incoming freshman ever.
  4. That really sucks about Area C. On another note, if anyone wants to name the number of bands advancing from each Area and the top bands from each area. I would do this myself but I've got too much homework and not enough time.
  5. I concur. Nineteen bands would be too close to twenty for only three to advance.
  6. http://region9music.org/ Unless the results are outdated, they're posted.
  7. Oh yeah, I forgot about finals. Anyway, thanks. One judge wanted us to have another chance. One judge thought we were pretty good and that our show had a lot of potential but still gave us a two. It was impossible to tell that he was going to give us a two throughout the entire tape until the last sentence, "Really good but I had expected more out of Southwest High School." The last judge was smoking something during our performance. He was telling us to tune base drums in the middle of a keyboard solo. He also thought some of our dissonant parts were wrong notes. Oh well, the two brings us back down to reality. It'll make us work harder next season. Hopefully. As for Azle and Saginaw. I don't know what Area, but I do know they're good. I think Saginaw can make a serious run at State finals.
  8. Yeah, I'm sure we'd have been nervous too. Now that marching season is basically over for us, it takes a huge load off of me. The only thing I have to worry about now is making District, Region, Area, and State. Edit: All I know about Birdville and Seguin is that Seguin placed higher at Aledo than Birdville. I think.
  9. Seguin's going to be tough too. They're doing really well this year. You all can take 'em though.
  10. Translation: Haha. You gots teh pwn. I think. Anyway, there's no reason to count the Cavs out yet. They won 2006 and had an off year in 2007. They'll come back fighting in 2008. Fighting with swords.
  11. Old topic but oh well... I think if my band directors chose to do a Zelda themed show or even use just one Zelda piece in our show, I'd just about die. I love Zelda. Very much. Very, very much.
  12. From Area B: 1. Sherman 2. The Colony 3. Aledo 4. Centennial That's my guess.
  13. I think I'll try. I don't know if I would be able to stay until finals, though. I'd also have to find someone else who's going.
  14. I think I might go just to watch. I know a few people who are also thinking about going.
  15. It might be a mistake. I don't see why they would have a judges break before the last band. It seems messed up.
  16. Thanks. I actually felt confident that we could've made state with our Friday night performance but as soon as we played our last note yesterday, I knew we'd get a II. Tomorrow is going to be one emotional band rehearsal.
  17. Yeah. It was the biggest shock I've ever received. I don't even know what happened. All I know is that on Friday night, we gave an amazing performance. Definitely would've received straight 1s. Saturday morning rehearsal went great. We took the field at Burleson and everything fell apart. Anything that could go wrong, did. It's depressing. Anyway, now that we're out of the running, I'm supporting you guys all the way.
  18. That's good. It makes Area B just a little less difficult.
  19. All the bands. I mean, it's at least harder than Region 7 on an individual student level. Southwest was in Region 5 two years ago and only 5 kids in our middle school made Region. Then, last year, we moved to Region 7 and the middle school had tons of kids in Region.
  20. Yeah, Birdville and Seguin. The only 4A's on the list. On a side note, Region 5 is pretty tough.
  21. Region 5, I think. Definitely not Region 7 since we performed on Saturday. I can probably find it myself. I just wasn't sure if you knew off of the top of your head. Edit: As far as I could tell, Region 5 only has two 4A bands. Seguin and Birdville. Doesn't look like five bands will be advancing to Area from that Region.
  22. What's the list of bands that have to perform on Tuesday?
  23. Our team is 7-0 now. We beat Western Hills 35 to 29 at our homecoming game on Friday.
  24. One band advances per every five bands that make it to area. So you would need at least fifteen bands to advance three to state. I'm not sure about your finals question though.
  25. If I were at home, I would check the little competition pamphlet. I looked through it yesterday and I can't remember if I saw them on the list or not.
