GN Semis Announcements and Finalists
Fata1 replied to itsstephenyo's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
The girl in the yellow is Jillian Romero and the girl that was in the white is her younger sister, Jacey Romero. Jillian is an 8th grader. Their older sister is in the band and both girls were asked to help out. *I'm not too sure about the last name. I think I heard it right, though. -

Nah, I don't think they were twins. The second girl looked smaller than the first. As for time, I was getting worried about that. I'm not sure what the BOA time limits are though. -

No kidding. I don't even know what to say about it. It was just amazing. -

Thank God for Thanksgiving break. I have no homework this week. UMass is finally done too, it seems. I watched an entire Scrubs episode during their performance. -
That's the way it is with me. I don't OCD. It's just minor things that I tend to do. If I don't do them, it's not a big deal. It just bothers me a little bit.

Nimrod. I love that piece. We played it last year with other movements from Enigma Variations. I've always wanted to play with a good orchestra. Our school's orchestra is horrible though. They don't care. They got a new director this year who tried to get them to do a one hour rehearsal every Monday so that they actually have rehearsals outside of the 45 minute class periods but the kids in orchestra think the idea is ridiculous. A lot of them were talking about quitting when the new director said he's going to implement sectionals next semester.

I have this annoying things with numbers. If I'm asked to choose a random number, I can never choose a number like 222, 246, 369, 123, 456, or stuff like that. My favorite number is 472 because there really isn't an obvious pattern or anything to it. I can't stand next to a microwave while it's running. I can't sleep if my bathroom door is open. I have others but these are the one's I can think of now.

Yeah, that's true. Anyway, we lost to Aledo 47 to 6. It was nice to finally play a team that had a good band, though. It's also nice to finally have the season end. As much as I love football games, I was ready for it to end.
-
Playoff game tomorrow. Us against Aledo. I'm predicting that we lose 42 to 31. Though if we win, it will be the first playoff game we've won in a really long time, if ever. It'll also bring us up to 11-0. Otherwise we finish the season at 10-1 which isn't too bad.

I'm really going to be looking forward to seeing the winner of this contest. It almost seems like a joke.

Starcraft. I used to be addicted to the game. Back when I was in sixth grade, I would come home and play it for about six hours straight and go to bed. My addiction broke in the seventh grade. I still play now and then.

Senior salute???

Well, I emailed him. I didn't give my school or name or anything though. It was just an anonymous email that I seriously doubt he'll reply to. -
Senior salute???
Fata1 replied to drumajorfernando's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I'm sure they'll do something. Surely someone with a higher power has enough sense to realize that a group of seniors shouldn't be kicked out because they were showing a little bit of pride on their night. You guys have given so much time to that band only to be kicked out for something so small. That doesn't seem right at all. -
Senior salute???

Man. I mean, I can't really see our band director getting angry about something like that at all. I just can't fathom getting kicked out of band for that. -

Let me get this straight, you got kicked out because of that? I mean, I could understand the punishment if you did some obscene thing that made your band look bad but I didn't see anything wrong with what was done. Especially considering that it was senior night at a football game. -
Uniforms
Fata1 replied to MaverickBand15's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
We've had these piece of crap uniforms for years and the district finally approved us getting new ones. This was our first season with them. They're pretty cool. It comes with a red jacket and silver baldric. It also comes with a vest that has a classical design on one side and a more modern design on the other. It's kind of like three uniforms in one and it actually works pretty well. Anyway, I think one of my favorite uniforms is Broken Arrows'. -
We won our closest game of the year, the district championship against O.D. Wyatt 31 to 28. They were ahead for most of the fourth quarter. We scored a touchdown and brought the game to 31 to 28. At the very end, they had three chances to throw a touchdown pass and the failed at each of them. It was a scary game. Loser had to face Stephenville and that would just suck. Anyway, we're 10-0 now. We face Aledo next week in the first round of playoffs. I'd much rather face Aledo than Stephenville but we'll still lose.

2007 UIL State 4A Finals Results
Fata1 replied to Xenon's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I think that's fine. I mean, if you're going to go to state, you have to have a difficult show. They may not care about having a production like Bell or Marcus. There's nothing wrong with them simply wanting flawless music and flawless marching. It allows less capable bands to perform easier music and still get a 1. They did what they could do well and were rewarded. They just won't go far into the real UIL competitions because they lack the level of difficulty that UIL does end up needing. UIL begs for perfected music and marching, not caring whether a band has all of the frosting that top BOA bands have. BOA wants it all. -

Oh no. UIL prefers straight up difficulty. They don't care too much about the visuals. You could go in there and perform a somewhat boring show but as long as it is played and marched flawlessly and has a certain level of difficulty, you'll go far in the UIL competitions. -

It's nice to see consistent judging as far as first place goes. On a side note, Poteet's doing pretty well. They've gotten first in the past three major 4A state competitions. Two marching and one Honor Band.
