The schedule is out: Schedule It's not an extremely high profile competition but it should be fun.

I know you can't name them all and you've done a really good job at what you have. We placed just 1 behind Centennial and 2 above The Colony in the Honor Band competition last year. We also get consistent 1s at UIL. I'm not pointing this out just because I'm from Southwest but because we could cause an upset in the typical prediction for Area B. I'd point this out even if I were from another band. Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to be selfish and I'm definitely not angry or anything. I'm just a casual observer pointing something out.

We're 5-0 right now. We beat Carter Riverside 65 to 0. It's kind of sad that it'll all come to an end in our first game of playoffs.

I don't want to sound selfish but I think you're missing some bands. Like us. Due to past history, our band has been overlooked a lot. We have been included in predictions every now and then because of our placement in the Honor Band last year but I think we're being really underestimated. We weren't mentioned in your entire post. Anyway, great overview for the most part. It puts a nice perspective on things.

FW Southwest is 4-0 now. We beat O.D. Wyatt 43-21.

I wish we were going to Carrollton's TOC. We're only going to the Aledo competition and I'm pretty sure none of the top bands from Area B are going to that.

Same with our school last year. This year we have almost the same number of band people as football and cheerleaders in the homecoming court.

Our homecoming game is on October 19th and the dance is the next day. The dance is on the same day as UIL just like it was last year. So annoying.

I doubt I'll do marching band in college but I'm up for concert band. Might try Drum Corps just to see what it's like.

FW Southest is 3-0 after beating Brewer HS 42 - 14. We're number one in our district for 4A and number 6 in our Area. Things are going like last year. We kill until the first round of playoffs.

You just send in recordings. As for us, we sent in recordings of our two best pieces that we used for TMEA Honor Band. So it was like an extension of Honor Band but without our march and less competition. Edit: I'm not sure if the process is completely finished yet either. On the front page, step 5 of the process sounds like it might not be finished. It also says the recipients will be announced on September 15th.

My lessons teacher just sent me the French Horn recordings. I'm pretty sure he made them though.

The results of the 2007 National Wind Band Honors came in. It's only in its second year so its not the most widely known contest or anything. Only 81 entries from 17 states were sent in. Quite a few Texas bands received honors though. http://www.nationalwindbandhonors.com/enav...=2007%20Results I think it was a total of 17 out 25 winners were from Texas and 16 out of 20 received a commendation. Just thought I'd point this out. Texas did pretty good overall.

Just got back from our second football game. We won. Yay. It was also our first real performance. It went pretty good. Now we have to start moving faster. I think we're a little behind right now.

Yeah, that's true. The only thing is it wasn't really muddy. But it worked out for the better because we had just got our new uniforms so some of the pants were too long and would have gotten dirty out on the field. They'll be ready by Friday though.

Our first performance was disappointing. We were going up against Eastern Hills High School and at half time they decided that they didn't want to march because of the mud. They told our director and our director decided that we wouldn't march either to be polite. In the end, we stood on the track and played for the audience.

Our first game is on Thursday. Pretty exciting. We had a horrible day yesterday but today was better. Got one part of our new uniforms today so we're going to wear those at the first game.

Haven't you heard of Hays also? I'm pretty sure they were at Duncanville this past year. Anyway, the realignment created some crazy effects. This'll be one interesting year.

Our camp is going great. Our band is completely different from last year. This year, we're working insanely hard to make state. It's like a whole new band.

Southwest. It's all pretty exciting for us. We've never gone to a state competition for anything until last year for the TMEA Honor Band. We're all pushing to do well in the marching competition this year. We just barely missed going to state two years ago.

I didn't realize that. That contest will be crazy for us and the other bands there. It'll be fun though. A chance to watch all the other good 4A bands.

I think so too. I'm just a little scared about how our woodwinds are going to handle Symphony No. 10. Trumpets/Horns are doing fine so far.

Our goal is to make and place well at 4A State.
