I like the Crossmen's current look. It's simple and classy. I believe they received new uniforms not too long ago.

QUOTE (travis_malone @ Oct 16 2006, 10:24 PM) no. BOA is all smoke and mirrors. if you dont dance and/or have electronics and rappers in your show, you probably wont do very well. That's a negative.

Thoughts on BOA Houston
mbui replied to guardcapn07's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I wrote this earlier this afternoon on the BOA Forums when I got home from the Regional.... ---------- Just got home from Pearland and saw the following bands.... Oak Ridge H.S., TX - 12:45 Westfield H.S., TX - 1:00 Cypress Falls H.S., TX - 1:15 Ronald Reagan H.S., TX - 1:30 Sharyland H.S., TX - 1:45 Brenham H.S., TX - 2:00 Brazoswood H.S., TX - 2:15 I'll keep it brief since I have to be at work in about 15 minutes but.... Ronald Reagan was the best by far. Their execution (both musically/visually) and show was a level above everyone else. Westfield & Cypress Falls were struggling with their music. Clarity and intonation was a issue. Visually...both groups looked fine. Gotta give props to the Cypress Falls orchestra members...they sounded gorgeous! As for Brazoswood, I wouldn't be surprised if they placed above both Cypress Falls and Westfield. Not only were they cleaner but their sound was better. My surprise band....Sharyland. Great sounding group. I hope to see them in Finals. That's all for now. -
QUOTE (G'townPIT @ Oct 11 2006, 12:52 AM) So are those three shows related in concept? Or are they three different themes that they just decided to go with? I mean, why would they decide to pick their shows 2/3 years in advance other than the obvious reasons? "The Santa Clara Vanguard is very excited to announce three unique and entirely different show concepts to take the corps through the end of the decade."

QUOTE (Maverick27 @ Oct 10 2006, 11:35 PM) In all honesty, we (Marcus) might not even be there for our exhibition. Our football team is actualy good this year for once, and although we haven't played many district games, we are 4 and 1 so playoffs look like a good possibility. Luck of the draw might make us have a game that night, and since we (battery and pit) are skipping out on the game the week before for PASIC, we can't miss the first playoffs game. It might be all on the parents, who knows... Hope to see all of you there! Lol, I think you're getting the Lone Star Classic Percussion competition and the Lone Star Preview competition mixed up. LSP is a marching band competiton hosted by The Woodlands HS.

Anyone have the full results from the Galena Park Invitational? I know Pearland was first while Brazoswood was third. Thanks in advance.

QUOTE (whitewing09 @ Oct 8 2006, 12:25 AM) those scores are alittle low arent they... No. Like with most major circuits, scores get higher as the season progresses. No band should be receiving high scores during the first week of October no matter what kind of competition it is, local or circuit. -

Ronald Reagan's drumline (and of course their front ensemble) was fantastic last year! Just a cool tidbit since we're on the subject of Reagan and percussion... When Glenn Fugget (DCI Head Percussion judge) judged BOA Grand National Semifinals in 2005, he said on his tape that it was the best high school front ensemble that he had ever seen. That's means a lot coming from a guy like Glenn. Gotta concur with him. Their percussion writing and execution was gorgeous.

Mike Sloan is the colorguard director at Winston Churchill HS and is a drill designer for various bands across Texas. Also, Roland Chavez is the percussion director at Ronald Reagan HS. Wonderful pickup for the Crossmen. Wow. These kids are going to have an outstanding staff to work with. Go Crossmen!

QUOTE (euro_euph06 @ Oct 5 2006, 08:05 PM) ---The system is going to be completely new, as will the staff. Very good point. However, the new Santa Clara Vanguard staff did wonders this past year.
