  2. QUOTE (whitewing09 @ Dec 30 2006, 05:34 PM) does anyone know where i could get my hands on the audio thingy of Beyond Perimeters??? IM me. I'll hook you up with Ronald Reagan's mp3 from 2003 BOA Grand National Finals. Which by the way is awesome compared to the San Antonio Finals performance. I loved the changes that were made and the show was so much cleaner at GN.
  3. The climax in the pre-show where the announcer comes in.... /chills.
  4. QUOTE (mnkyman @ Dec 30 2006, 03:53 AM)are you joking me? ok ya, they edit it nicly, but there not spending that much of a significant time to charge ppl 100 dollors You'd be surprised at how much detail is put into producing the DCI World Championship & BOA Grand National DVD's. They spend months on it. Check out a behind the scenes look of the making of the 2006 DCI DVD's. Tom Blair has also been producing the BOA Grand National DVD's since 2005. http://www.dci.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=b...02-3ab88b67096b

  15. Gabe Musella and Beth Bronk added to the brass staff. Wow. Nothing but great news for the Crossmen. They're going to have one heck of a hornline.
  16. Yup, it was "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morton Lauridsen. Here are the musical selections for the show: 2006 - Transitions Symphony No. 3, Mvt. III & IV (Vittorio Giannini) O Magnum Mysterium (Morton Lauridsen) Danse Macabre (Camille Saint-Saens) Till Eulenspiegel (Richard Strauss) Original Music by Aaron Guidry
  17. From the 2005 show..... Clatter, crash, clack! Racket, bang, thump! Rattle, clang, crack, thud, whack, bam! It's music! - Now dance! The lyrics are from 'Cvalda' from Dancer in the Dark by Bjork.
  18. QUOTE (bossman @ Dec 11 2006, 02:02 PM) This year in the alamodome, Bell had this part of their show when it was almost silent. You could hear all of the guard flip their flags in time. It was so quiet and eerie in the dome. I agree. That part was spectacular.
  19. This is Danpod coming to you live from Bui's computer. I've been in Beaumont for the past week. Here's the reason why: BOA was practically sued by certain composers who did not grant permission to have their piece reproduced by either BOA or the band performing the piece. Not quite sure who is really at fault but the fact of the matter is that both BOA and the performing bands must do their part to obtain the correct permissions. This is a very sensitive issue that has pissed off the wrong people (Those composers who got bent out of shape because a high school marching band performed their piece.) Remember: It is NOT all about the money. It's part of the reason, but not the whole enchilada. Any reproduction of a piece, whether it is in original or copied form, is illegal without the proper permission.
  20. QUOTE (MartinHorn @ Dec 9 2006, 12:40 AM) I think I'll wait for a professional video. Here you go: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoID=1484169180
  21. Like someone said earlier...the choral version of "Lux Aurumque" is a bit different than the Wind Ensemble version. The climaxes are different. The climax of the Wind Ensemble version is from Eric Whitacre's electronic opera "Paradise Lost."
  22. QUOTE (MartinHorn @ Dec 9 2006, 12:34 AM) Umm.. does any Woodlands staff work with the Cadets and Spirit? Nope.
  23. QUOTE (bossman @ Dec 8 2006, 08:42 AM) Is that guy (the announcer) an ex-director or sumthin? Bands of America has two announcers. Chuck Henson & Dan Potter. Chuck Henson does BOA Grand Nationals while Dan Potter does the Texas Regionals. Here's a bio for both: Dan Potter Dan Potter has been involved in marching band and drum corps for over 25 years. He is the announcer for many BOA and Drum Corps International shows nationwide and is the host of BOA's "Break Ranks" and DCI's "Field Pass" audio and video podcasts which cover the best in marching music. He's also been involved both as talent and as a producer for the network broadcasts of the DCI World Championships each August. He was drum major of the Geneseo Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Illinois from 1979-1981 and was a visual/marching tech for high school bands in Indiana and for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps of Toledo, Ohio prior to moving to Texas in 1988. At home in Dallas-Fort Worth, Dan is a radio news anchor and host. He is the recipient of numerous broadcast journalism awards. In 2000, Dan received the prestigious Radio-Television News Directors Association's Edward R. Murrow award for best radio newscast in the United States. Involved in the arts off the field too, Dan is on the board of directors of Creative Arts Theatre and School in Arlington, Texas. He's also served as the emcee for the Texas Wind Symphony and has been a guest conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony and other groups on several occasions. Chuck Henson Chuck Henson is celebrating his 18th year as the "voice" of Bands of America's series of Regional and Grand National Championships. His introduction to Bands of America began in 1984 when he was a Colorguard Clinician at the BOA Summer Symposium, held in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Chuck is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps Colorguard and was a proud recipient in the Madison Scouts Alumni Reunion Project, performing in Camp Randall Stadium at the 2006 Drum Corps International World Championhsips. After more than two decades as talent in the broadcast industry, his focus is now on growing a personal voice talent business (chuckhenson.net). He is a former Director of Operations and Talent for Metro Networks/Westwood One Inc., in Chicago, Miami, Orlando and Tampa Bay and holds a BA in telecommunications from the School of Journalism at the University of Kentucky. Chuck currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida.
