  1. The managing time stress is REAL! As a parent helping to crew on the field with a show that has a fair amount of props, I was terrified that we'd not get our fronts off the field in two minutes. Serious anxiety! I was so happy when we crossed the line with time to spare. I just kept thinking, "If we mess this up, we have killed this for our kids." Having one more minute to get off the field sure would be nice.
  2. I would like to see an interesting final. I wonder if the new scoring will shake things up. No idea!
  3. My understanding is that three groups from Area C will advance to state. Nineteen bands qualified for Area, but seven are military bands that are not competing in Area. So I hope that's right because I would love to see three bands go!
  4. The schedule for Area C 5A is out: Sulphur Springs - 2 p.m. Pine Tree - 2:15 p.m. Highland Park - 2:30 p.m. Mount Pleasant - 2:45 p.m. Forney - 3 p.m. North Forney - 3:15 p.m. BREAK Poteet - 3:45 p.m. West Mesquite - 4 p.m. Texas High - 4:15 p.m. Royse City - 4:30 p.m. Crandall - 4:45 p.m. Red Oak - 5 p.m. Exhibition by Texas A&M Commerce - 5:15 p.m. Announcement of Finalists - 5:30 p.m. Finals - 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Final Results - 9:30 p.m. Best of luck to all bands!
  5. Yup, Saturday is what matters. Every band has been working to fix all the little things (and, in some cases, big things). It's all about execution now, and those who have worked on the right things and put in the work will likely have a good day on Saturday. Best of luck to all!
  6. Thank you so much for doing this!
  7. There are still more region contests to go (rescheduled because of weather). There are a few that have contests Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Then Area contests next weekend.
  8. I saw the Duncanville show last weekend. I agree with this description. The show could be great - lots of potential, and I thought it was visually interesting. It's just not quite there yet. I felt like they had just learned all of it and was performing it for the first time. But if they really dig in and get it tight, it could go a long way.
  9. How does College Station look this year? I haven't seen them.
  10. What a day! So much great stuff to see. Shows I loved, in particular: Highland Park, Wylie, Summit and Richland. Duncanville is so visually impactful - really enjoyed them too. Quite the day for band in DFW!
  11. I loved their show! So creative and well done!

  13. Totally agree! I was pleasantly surprised!

Should be some great music and shows...really looking forward to this contest! Should be interesting for sure!
  15. Don’t count out Highland Park from Dallas. They placed second in 2019 in 5A. Smaller band but big sound. It will be interesting to see how they fare. Competition will be tough…and fun for all to watch!
