  1. Same can be said for Arcadia. Amazing performance and design. TWHS, Arcadia, and Kiski Area were my favorites in the first group, in that order.
  2. I love Kiski Area’s set design. Top-notch performance too. They make sure we hear every catch!
  3. TWHS just absolutely killed it in prelims.
  4. I was so so so pleasantly surprised by Cleveland. I definitely misjudged them initially on the meh set design, so I wasn’t expecting that performance. They performed the crap out of that show. It was very nice to see the audience give them the correct amount of energy back. That last toss was absolutely wild! Tarpon was of course fantastic. Probably my favorite in SW this year, although Carmel is really growing on me.
  5. Carmel was so good. The show is deceptively difficult with all that crazy partner work that they make look so easy.
  6. TWHS is the first SW show I’ve seen this year that has really excited me. It’s definitely not the cleanest, but I loved it.
  7. Surprised to see Carmel widen the gap over Avon with that performance. Both shows grew on me though, as well as Fishers (love their costumes).
  8. I always really like Onyx, especially their staging and movement. It definitely reminded me of the 2019 show but more like it was a continuation of last year. Avon’s show actually felt a bit more ambitious to me compared to last year. More weapon work I think. I’m not the biggest fan of the popular music medley though. Carmel was great but I was waiting for the show to peak or conclude in a more satisfying way.
  9. Great to see Coppell back! Some unfinished business there after missing finals last year. I didn’t know M&G Johnson was SW. I guess they self-promoted? Also SO excited to see what The Woodlands does!
  10. Coppell needs to go. Cedar Ridge and Keller need to go back.
  11. Congrats Carmel!!! Crazy that Southlake Carroll finished 7th here which is the same placement they got in area finals. A testament to their ability to clean and the depth of competition in Texas.
  12. Enjoyed Tarpon a lot more on a third viewing! Or maybe I’m just grateful to be able to actually watch any band right now 😂
  13. Same. It’s been pretty unwatchable for the last few bands.
  14. Prosper was just beautiful! When I first saw them on the HEB contest livestream, I had faith they would make finals here. Every time I see Hendrickson they just have the best energy. You can see how much they believe in their band and their show. Henny train!!! This is the second year in a row that Southlake Carroll has peaked at the last possible second to secure one final performance. From 13th at DFW and state alternate to top 12 here! Amazing showing in finals for Team Texas!!!
  15. I didn’t get to see any of Johnson’s performances here but I’m still shocked they didn’t make it.
  16. Still hard for me to imagine Prosper not being in finals after that. I’ve really enjoyed their show all season long.
  17. Mustang is always so fun, but I feel like this year’s show doesn’t fully capture that same energy. There’s something strangely ominous about it, idk. They sounded great though.
  18. Carmel might be my pick to win. I love their music so much and the guard is just totally nailing it. I think they have a better music run in them though.
  19. Brownsburg’s colorguard was great.
  20. Southlake Carroll was so much better in semis than they were in prelims!
  21. Love Fishers! Such an interesting musical selection. They always do something cool with the props and the guard is spectacular. Musical performance could be a bit stronger but it sounds really challenging. Would be very surprised if they don’t make finals.
  22. Broken Arrow was amazing as always. I’m just not connecting with the show as much as I would like.
