  1. Here’s how I saw things: Hebron Flower Mound Marcus Wakeland Coppell Keller/ Timber Creek Timber Creek/ Keller LD Bell Waxahachie Lone Star Rock Hill James Martin I know this is probably very incorrect. The likelihood of actual movement between bottom and top half is very small.
  2. Flo Mo could still win this thing! Very clean.
  3. Marcus makes their very challenging music sound so easy. Not many bands have that power. Can’t wait to see the rest of the show!
  4. That opening high brass statement from Wakeland is just so clear! Wow! Would love to see them medal or even win next week.
  5. LD Bell’s yellow plumes are very cute. The show is very beautiful and visually stunning. So colorful! Still not a top half music performance, imo.
  6. Really enjoying Waxahachie! This years show is much easier to understand than last year. All the uniforms are so cute! I bet the kids at James Martin are ecstatic to be back in finals here after missing at Houston and being underestimated here. Great show! It’s so impressive what Rock Hill has accomplished in just a few year. This show is so fun and the guard does an amazing job selling it. I’m impressed that Keller was able to get the whole show out there by this competition. I always consider them to be some of the ones that take the longest. The second half of the show actually felt a bit tighter than what came before? I guess that’s the trade off with learning the show quickly, not as much time to clean the older stuff! Hoping that the visual program keeps evolving through the season. Lone Star is bringing tons of energy! They are really connecting with the show theme. Big brash sounds. Maybe a bit too unrestrained at times, but I guess that’s what this show calls for. Clean visual program. Very very nice show from Timber Creek. They really give a wide range of dynamics. The props look great and create a cool effect when turned around. Up there with Keller as the best of the bottom half for me.
  7. Well, LD Bell remains in the top half!
  8. Congrats Rock Hill and James Martin! Southlake Carroll missed finals 😢. I guess the show was just not clean enough.
  9. Wow, Hebron with the visual caption. I guess they really rewarded the difficulty.
  10. Johnson’s visual design is so so so well done. Guard is fantastic too. They sound great but I’m not in love with the musical selections. Lots of pop music.
  11. Flower Mound is cleeeeean. This week on Instagram they’ve been showing everything that went into the design of this show, and it’s been really cool to see! I love the tango part. The color guard director change appears to have gone completely seamlessly. I think they have even more room to add more personality and life to certain parts of the show. Overall really really enjoyable show!
  12. Coppell! Those woodwind runs, ughhh so good! Crazy field coverage on that opening hit. The ballad is very sweet. The woodwinds are amazingggg. Closer was obviously added recently. Not totally in love with the musical selection in the closer yet. Can’t get over how good their woodwinds are.
  13. Lebanon Trail was a nice surprise!
  14. Specifically, the very end of the Symphonic Metamorphosis when they play all together on the move. Some stick outs/unsupported sounds. Nothing uncleanable, that piece is hard!
  15. LD Bell was solid! I know they’re with a new designer, but it still felt very in line with what they’ve done these past few years. Visually, pretty compelling with all the butterflies and big guard. The Symphonic Metamorphosis arrangement didn’t totally excite me, and there were some thinner moments musically.
  16. Timber Creek! Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they pushed for top half here. Not the craziest or most demanding program, but it’s just super solid.
  17. Rock Hill was fun, could definitely be in the conversation for finals.
  18. Carroll has gone all out with the theming, wow. Its a lot, maybe a bit much for me. This show is AMBITIOUS. And also dirtyyy. Luckily, the entire show is on the field and they have tons of time to clean.
  19. Keller still appears to be using placeholder tarps/props? They sound amazingggg at times, but I’m distracted by the hodge-podgeness of the visual design. Trombones 🔥🔥. They are definitely trying a different approach by having the whole show out there.
  20. Interesting direction for Waxahachie. I’m never the biggest fan of flat rectangle props. The Eiffel Tower stage is really cool though. Very cute show. As usual, they sound great. I think the whole show is on the field? If so, they’re wayyyy ahead of where they were last year.
  21. Wow, Lone Star was awesome.
  22. Hebron, that was disgusting (in a good way of course). The simultaneous musical AND visual demand is insaneeeeee. Interesting juxtaposition of themes, ocean waves and sound waves I guess. The show is quite upbeat and at times poppy, which I actually found very enjoyable. Going after Marcus, it was obviously nowhere near as clean (and it shouldn’t be).
  23. Marcus was nearly flawless, as we have come to expect. Big improvement over HEB for me. Thematically, the show is a bit less accessible than the past few years (not a bad thing).
  24. Wakeland was great. No frills, just amazing marching and playing. Closer was noticeably a bit dirtier than what came before (mainly because everything else was sooooo clean), but they have 2 full weeks to keep cleaning.
  25. LD Bell made top half here last year by 0.05 in prelims. They looked solid at HEB this year. Visual performance was pretty good, but the music performance didn’t quite hold up to the other heavy hitters there, imo. Wakeland has an unfortunate prelims time though, which could hurt their chances for top half.
