That is not necessarily true. LISD has rezoning that kicks in starting in Fall of 2024 and it will make a significant difference to all of the schools. This UIL snapshot and realignment are before any rezoning happens so it does not take it into account. The rezoning is specifically designed to address declining numbers at CP, Vista Ridge, and Vandegrift and increasing numbers at Leander, Rouse, and Glenn. The projections are that all LISD schools will be near or within 6A class sizes in the next 2 years based on the middle school populations and re-zoning. A 7th high school is being planned. Here is a link to the district projections. Note that even the 2024-2025 school year would have CP as close to 6A as Leander is now and all other LISD schools in 6A based on the new cutoff.Ā

This source thinks the cutoff will be closer to 2285 since some schools will opt up into 6A although somewhere between 2265 and 2285. It will be interesting to see where it falls.Ā

Great great run Leander. And watching Jeremy Spicer interview his two Leander kiddos from the sidelines afterwards made me a little teary. Heās obviously a proud dad, as he should be. š They are great human beings and wonderful soloists! Ā

Ok y'all I've got the final ripple counter for Leander. At finals they clocked in at about 83 ripples that I counted in the band. It would absolutely be over 100 if I were able to count guard at the same time.

And Leander is right there taking the occasional sub-caption over Rouse and CP. I don't think they are as far out of medal contention as some may believe.Ā

This is not the final schedule. It includes every possible 5A band in the area (24 total)Ā and assumes a schedule including all bands from each region. We don't yet know how many spots are actually available for state.Ā
Region 32 was last night advancing all 5 5A bands Region 29 was today advancing 8 of 9 5A bands Region 11 looks like they have their contest on Saturday with 10Ā 5A bands participating With 13 bands currently at Area, we need 2 of 10 from Region 11 to get 3 state qualifiers and 7 of 10 from Region 11 to get 4 state qualifiers. 4 will be the maximum Area H can send short of one of the judging exceptions kicking in to add one more.Ā

Iāll never forget my daughterās Senior year at Leander when they medaled at BOA SA with the Fourth Dimension, took seventh their first season as a 6A state band a few days later, and then took 6th at GN 4 days after UIL! Ā 8 days of INSANITY. It was an exhausting but incredible week.Ā

lhbenlee reacted to natertater21000 in Why did scores inflate in 2017?
The score inflation has way more to do with the increase in quality of the lower finalists and bubble bands IMO. If the 14th place band is now good enough for an 88/89 (which I believe is an accurate representation of their improvement) then the scores can only go up from there. This more or less forces the judges into a corner scoring wise. This is why I think Reagan broke the record in 2019. Bands like Vandy, Hebron, Vista, Leander, and CTJ were so good that year that for Reagan to be scored higher the judges had no choice but to put them over a 97.Ā All scores are relative to the field.
Side note: This is why I think record scores in a reward based system are a novelty at best. The only truly objective record score exists in an old school tic system where it is literally the show with the fewest errors.

lhbenlee got a reaction from LeanderMomma in Why did scores inflate in 2017?
There were changes to the rules and judging sheets that year as well. Perhaps those changes suited the strengths of Texas bands better. Itās probably a combination of things rather than just one of the things mentioned in this thread.

Sad that Leander was out of finals but proud of them on 16th place overall amidst a difficult season for them! Ā So so proud.Ā

lhbenlee reacted to Vidal28 in 2022 BOA San Antonio (Nov. 4 & 5)
Thereās a lot to look at and analyze. Another way to see it is that for that final friday block of panel 1, having three of the top 6 in one block to end the night, it both paid and didnāt pay to be in that block. All of KISD and Leander got grouped so close together. Had they performed at vastly different points of the contest we couldāve seen something totally different

Anyone elseās bands have a lot of kids out of sick? Something is going around Leander HS and a large number of kids in band, football, etcā¦ are out. I heard Rouse was hit too.Ā
