  1. If the DI and DII split is being done by the UIL, it will likely be by school size, similar to the football divisions (although maybe not exactly since the UIL allows opt-ups for football, and I'm not sure if they would allow that for band).
  2. So, I'm really happy Summit avoids having to deal with Highland Park for football. Instead, they move to District 4-5A DI with Legacy, Burleson Centennial, Colleyville Heritage, Midlothian, Birdville, Richland and Red Oak. Relatedly, that's a really strong band district. Halftimes are going to be as good as (if not better than) the games.
  3. https://realignment.uiltexas.org/ District alignments for athletics is up!
  4. Alignment numbers update: https://www.uiltexas.org/press-releases/detail/updated-uil-conference-cutoff-numbers-and-preliminary-enrollment-figures-fo Looks like the changes are just for 4A and 5A. It's now 1230 – 2219 for 5A and 515 – 1229 for 4A.
  5. Huh, I think we might have found another discrepancy between reported numbers and the UIL numbers. Looks like VM reported 2218 in October (based off of this list) but the UIL has them at 2109. Which means it would be Anderson, HP and Legacy.
  6. Yep. Although I don't think it's 100 percent set in stone this time around. Apparently McAllen ISD is disputing the numbers the UIL announced for their schools, including three 6A schools that would drop into 5A according to the district's numbers (somewhat relatedly, the UIL doubled Rio Vista's numbers somehow from 219 to 438, so there actually might be something to this). So, if those schools drop to where they belong and the UIL keeps the same number of schools for 6A, the next three schools to move up would be Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, Austin Anderson and Dallas Highland Park. According to the Dallas Morning News, the UIL initially said they would not change the cutoff numbers, but then backtracked to say that they aren't ruling that out. The folks over at 6A Texas Football doubt the UIL will bump up HP, so we'll just have to wait and see. 7. So for Mansfield ISD, Mansfield and Lake Ridge remain 6A. Legacy just stays in 5A along with Summit and Timberview (Timberview is just 14 over the 5A DI cutoff, which is a bit surprising). Think this helps Summit both musically and athletically (7-6A is a real blood bath). Just hoping the UIL punts the Mansfield schools back west and we don't end up stuck in a district with Highland Park and Lancaster like the 5A MISD schools are in this current cycle for athletic reasons.
  8. https://twitter.com/Matt_Stepp817/status/1201615141609103361 Looks like the realignment waters will get a little bit clearer tomorrow morning.
  9. Congrats to Vandegrift! Such an incredible performance! Tonight was a great night for everyone. Already can't wait to see what everyone puts on the field for next year! Also, recaps are up. 12. Interesting thing I noticed on the area page tonight. They already have dates for the non-state year area contests. Confirms what was said previously in the thread. Also, I'm confused about the 1A thing. Were 1A groups not able to go to state before?
  13. Music - Marcus Visual - Marcus Guard 1. Marcus 2. Keller Central 3. Prosper Perc 1. Marcus 2. Prosper 3. Waxahachie 1. Marcus 2. Hebron 3. Keller 4. Waxahachie 5. Prosper 6. Keller Central 7. Haltom 8. Wylie 9. Permian 10. Timber Creek
  14. I think Hebron might have shut the door on first place. Outstanding performance tonight!
  15. I meant to say not satisfied with just third. It’s been a day.
  16. Oh my Marcus. So many things to love about that show. Such a sucker for Joy in the closer. Such a clean performance visually and musically. Now we await Hebron’s response.
  17. Uh yeah, safe to say Keller is just satisfied with third. What a run! Love the closer.
  18. Hadn’t seen their show before tonight, but I’m pretty sure they did.
  19. Wow. Oh wow Waxahachie. They technically might be a long shot to medal tonight, but they did everything they could to try and steal one. Hats off to the clarinet soloist in the closer. Phenomenal work.
  20. Strong finals showing from Prosper. I’m a sucker for Elsa’s Procession, and they do a great job with it in the opener.
  21. Also a much stronger showing from Keller Central in finals from prelims. How they manage to make Heart and Soul so interesting each time it appears in the show is phenomenal. Great design and great performance.
  22. Things you don’t notice about Permian’s show from Flo/daytime prelims: a camera flash happens at the end of each movement from the pit. Also, those guard uniforms really pop under the lights.
  23. As much as it’s overplayed in the marching arts, I absolutely love Sound of Silence, especially when it’s played as well as Wylie does.
