  1. We’ve warmed up to 62 here, but Lewisville tried to cool us off with “A cooler shade of winter”. Well done and really love the music arranging in it.
  2. They didn’t update the only schedule, but Lewisville will be performing at 1 and Irving Nimitz at 1:30. Also unrelated, apparently there’s an air show in the area. Various WWII era planes providing intermission entertainment.
  3. Very clean run for J.J. Pearce today both musically and visually. Great job getting those leaves too.
  4. There is so much to like with McKinney’s show. So well designed. Hope to see it again tonight to see those lights pop in the closer.
  5. Think I found my favorite ballad so far today with Trinity. Love the saxophone quartet there. Wonderfully done musically.
  6. Wow Keller! First time seeing them this year and lived up to the hype. Absolutely phenomenal musically and great drill throughout. Can’t wait to see it again under the lights tonight!
  7. Hello McKinney Boyd. Really clean musically and visual. Love the color change going into the closer. Those last few final spots are going to be oh so tight tonight.
  8. Summit - As an alum, I have an obvious bias, but that was their best run I’ve seen from them at a show. Probably the best Summit show since 2006. It’s a waiting game to see if they got in finals, but if not, that was a great last competitive run. Keller Central - Love this show. A lot of fun musically. Also a big fan of the uniforms.
  9. Wow Haltom! Great sound this morning. Really love Malagueña in the closer!
  10. Midlothian Heritage takes us back 90 years to 1929. Really fun show y’all! I remember seeing them at one of their first contests ever in 2016 and they’ve really come a long way since.
  11. Really wonderful sound Timber Creek. Especially considering the chilly conditions. Also love the headlines in the back.
  12. It’s a nice cool 49 degrees out with a wind chill of 44. But the sun is finally starting to peak out from the clouds. Best of luck to all the groups today!
  13. Don't have the exact numbers, but Mansfield and Mansfield Lake Ridge will comfortably stay 6A.
  14. Also, Mansfield Legacy turned in 2,209 (close to the 6A cutoff) and Mansfield Timberview turned in 1,897 (definitely 5A). Still waiting on Mansfield and Mansfield Lake Ridge oddly enough.
  15. This thread has a lot of the numbers for all classifications. A lot of the numbers are from Matt Stepp and Dave Campbell's Texas Football, but that one's behind a paywall this year. https://www.6atexasfootball.com/forum/main-forum/484660-friday-is-snapshot-day-uil-2020-2022-realignment-post-adm-numbers-here/ Mansfield Summit turned in 2051, so they'll be dropping back down to 5A. Stinks for this year's juniors, but should help the band and also get's them out of a really tough athletic district.
  16. From what I can find, it looks like the rule change was made this summer by the legislative council (page 5 for area and page 7 for state). Can't find if it was actually approved by the Commissioner of Education, but I'm working under the assumption that it was. So: 1-19: 7 in finals 20-29: 10 in finals 30-39: 12 in finals 40+: 14 in finals
  17. This still has to be approved by the Commissioner of Education before it's official. Not sure what the timeframe is for that or the odds that it gets "vetoed". If I'm reading the legislation correctly, all of the music changes will go into effect for 2020-2021 school year.
  18. So apparently the UIL Legislative Council met today and there were a few interesting decisions regarding music. The following items passed today, but must be approved by the Commissioner of Education before they are official. Obviously, the biggest surprises to me is the move to hold area contests every year regardless of classification/conference (state is still alternating years) and the state military marching band contest pilot. Also worth noting that a proposal to "to change the state solo and ensemble contest to area contests" did not pass today. You can read all 30 pages worth of results here if you wish: https://www.uiltexas.org/files/media/2019Oct_LC_Results.pdf Thoughts on these changes?
  19. Per what I can find on the region contest rules: I'll have to pay more attention next time to see what actually happens.
  20. Area F schedule is out if anyone is interested in that: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dq0EsOhMoLEwHpmWUB_qj0tP-VQyFIp-dEsPn9pxs6E/edit#gid=894981069
  21. Missed finals by a spot in a lineup that wasn't quite as strong as this one. Just a disappointing way to finish the season. Hoping for a better result this time around.
  22. True, but this is undoubtedly the toughest competition yet for them. I'm really interested to see where they measure up though, particularly going into a state year next year (assuming Summit stays in 6A). Also, slightly random fact of the night, this will be the first time Summit is at Duncanville since my freshman year of 2008. Spoiler alert: it did not go so well for us.
  23. I'm still getting used to seeing them on the field since our colors are blue and black. But I will say that they make the show look so much better than the traditional jackets they use for football game.
  24. You should be able to find region results for all regions here. Looks like it's 3, 4, 20 and 21 in Area C with 21's contest coming up on Saturday. So there's no set schedule but this looks to be the performance order draw.
  25. From what I can find, snapshot day is Oct. 25 (as mentioned before). I'm pretty sure Matt Stepp and the folks over at Dave Campbell's Texas Football will have a running list of enrollments as they get them that day if you're just on the edge of your seat for this information and/or just want to procrastinate at work. Personally, I'm hoping Summit drops back down to 5A or otherwise finds a way out of District 7-6A. Just brutal for football and basketball.
