  1. https://www.mhsband.com/results Basic recaps there if anyone wants to see. There were tabulation errors with the class A results (hence why Timberview won the class when they announce Cleburne won 3 of 4). Would not surprise me if that was the case with finals slots too. Final thoughts tonight before I turn out the lights, the more I think about it, the more I think you throw tonight’s results in the trash for predicting future results. I’m not sure what the scoring system is for this contest, but I know it’s not the UIL sheets and I’m pretty sure it’s not the BOA system either. Most valuable things bands can take from tonight are the judges comments. Oh well, glad that band is back and just as good as it’s ever been. Good luck to all of the groups this season!
  2. I’m really having a hard time putting any stock into tonight’s scores. I know that I’m obviously not a judge (and thank goodness for that), but those scores don’t align with what I saw tonight. Martin was not the tenth place band tonight. Plain and simple. Like that result is making me shake my head more than anything, and I’m a Summit person. Just so odd. Really the same with Fossil Ridge.

  4. This does allow me to bring up a somewhat entertaining related story. In 2009 at the Desoto contest, we thought we missed finals but were shortly told that they miscalculated. Meanwhile, the trucks were halfway back to the school. Eventually we finished 11th out of 10 bands in finals.
  5. I don’t think so? The announced bands filled out the schedule perfectly unless I missed something. I hightailed it out of the stadium to find dinner right after the schedule was announced.
  6. That’s a really fun show Mansfield. And y’all performed it superbly! Great way to close the night. Scores coming shortly.
  7. Much improved performance for Burleson here in finals! Great job. Good luck this season!
  8. Heads up, apparently Burleson got added to the finals line up. Not sure what the story is with that. Anyway, good luck!
  9. Wonderful performance tonight McKinney! So much to like about this show. Best of luck this season!
  10. Well done Highland Park. That’s a fun show. Love everything about the ballad. Best of luck this season!
  11. I’m still amazed with how far Summit has come since I graduated. The double touching section with the brass in the second movement would have never been even a thought. Great job tonight, y’all!
  12. Great job tonight Colleyville Heritage! Love the electronic oboe(?) solo. Ensemble sound is strong. Good luck this season!
  13. Nice job in finals tonight Midlothian! Love the musical selections and you perform the so well. See you at Area F!
  14. Wonderful job tonight Lake Ridge. Such a good concert band sound on the field. Love the Stardust ballad. Best of luck this season!
  15. Wow, Martin! Just wow! Love that show! Using Mr. Sandman in a minor key for the ballad is perfect. Definitely put their name in the mix for first place tonight.
  16. Great job Legacy in finals! Fantastic brass sound. And that’s probably the best piccolo solo I’ve heard in any setting. Definitely an Area F finalist contender.
  17. Wonderful performance tonight Trinity! Loved the ballad, especially the bassoon solo. Good luck the rest of the way!
  18. Outstanding job Fossil Ridge! There’s so much to love about this show, especially with the music. That mellophone soloist nailed it both times today. Best of luck the rest of the season!
  19. Timberview gets us started with an exhibition performance. They definitely play a lot bigger than their size. Great job today, y’all!

  22. Lovely performance this afternoon Cleburne! Always a fan of Wizard of Oz shows.
  23. Great job today Sam Houston! Loved There’s No Place Like Home as the ballad.
  24. That was a bee-autiful performance Burleson! That contra feature in Flight of the Bumblebee was really cool.
  25. Glad y’all like it. Not gonna lie, running out of steam a bit. Been a while since I’ve been at a contest. Missed this.
