  1. From region 5: Arlington Heights, Carter-Riverside, Juan Seguin, Legacy, North Side, Southwest and Timberview all advanced to Area F.
  2. Oh, I meant those two I added were locks in addition to the seven the other person listed. Probably should have been a bit more clear on that.
  3. I think Wylie is a lock, and I really want to say Summit is a lock (but I have some bias there). That last spot is tough to figure out.
  4. I was already planning on going since Summit was and it's not far from Mansfield, but yeah, I'm definitely going. Also worth pointing out that the lone 4A group, Midlothian Heritage, will be performing in exhibition before finals as well. So it's basically a 6A only contest.
  5. Recaps were just posted. https://marching.musicforall.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2019/10/2019-Midland-Prelims-RECAP.pdf https://marching.musicforall.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2019/10/2019-Midland-Finals-RECAP.pdf
  6. I'm not entirely sure. I won't be able to make it to UIL unfortunately.
  7. Summit and Lake Ridge will be there per their calendars.
  8. So, so happy for this Summit group. In 2010 (my junior year), we marched seven trumpets and three sousas and did pretty well considering the circumstances. To see and hear them now is incredible. Love the show this year and can't wait to see what they do in finals tonight!
  9. Even as a Summit alum, I don't really disagree with the overall rankings. You really could have put the top three in any order and made a legitimate argument for it. The only weird thing in the recap is the music 3 judge with Summit in 4th, which I didn't really see (or hear), but that didn't really affect the end result. I'll also say that's one of the few times where I've been at a contest where the top spots were not set in stone after prelims which makes everything so much more fun.
  10. The Mansfield schools have pretty much been in Area B since I can remember (2006). I guess they got switched to Area F this year (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). Legacy looked good at the Mansfield contest two weeks ago. Think they'll make finals but who knows after that.
  11. Absolutely shocked by Duncanville in 6th. And Lebanon Trail up to 4th.
  12. Really, really loved Wylie’s exhibition performance. Sound of Silence as the ballad was perfection.
  13. I feel for the music judge. Summit with an amazing performance in finals. Going to be tight in the top four.
  14. Lovejoy is going to have something to say about that top spot. Great performance, especially musically.
  15. Was that third place finish in prelims a wake up call for Duncanville? Might have been. Strong performance for them in finals.
  16. Sachse gunning for that overall music award in finals. Great sound. And I love the color change in the closer.
  17. Rocky Point in the opener has really grown on me the past two weeks. A lot of really nice music moments in their show.
  18. Came away really impressed with Lebanon Trail today. If only they brought the actual rain. But I’ll settle for mid 80s now.
  19. Love the opening of Lake Highlands’ show with the brass playing backfield behind the screens. Neat effect. Also, love the guard silks throughout.
  20. Lovely performance in finals, Sherman. Love the woodwind feature in the second movement.
  21. Much better performance from Frisco Centennial this evening as opposed to 1pm under the sun. Great job today, y’all, and that tuba solo is sublime.
  22. Lights are starting to take effect at Pirate Stadium. And it really helps the Independence uniforms pop. Lovely finals performance and a lovely ballad as well.
  23. Yeah, even with royal blue colored glasses, I was surprised to see Summit come out on top, especially in visual. The top four can easily change hands this evening.
  24. Really like the McKinney North show on second watch. A little bit of a marionette uprising going on at the end. Neat show.
