Hoping the best for Brandeis, I’m not about to make a baseless prediction and act like it’s going to happen but I will say that hypothetically there is a small chance that they could cause an upset. I’m keeping them in the talks for finals though for sure. They’ve been a staple of Area H Finals for a bit. -

Highland Park is a very small, yet very well playing band. It takes a lot to challenge Cedar Park for the 5A title, they did a very good job of that. The future holds a lot in store for them, let’s see how they play alongside 6A. I hope they keep a similarly designed show than the one this year, this years show was fun and entertaining and yet it kept with a UIL style. Their music book was challenging yet fun and was carried by the excellent performance the band gave with it. Same with the visuals and minimalistic props. Maybe I was just a big fan of the show design overall, but a show design like that can go along way in UIL and the overall good enjoyable experience the students have performing it. It’s a great balance I think they’ve hit with this show. Let’s see if they can carry it to next year. The fact they stood their ground against bands much larger than them in 5A goes to show, they’re not letting size stop them. Whatever numbers they have they’ll give a good show with them that’s for sure. I wouldn’t put them out of area finals if they do make the jump to 6A. It was a big breakout for them this year for them and while some bands do sadly struggle with keeping the momentum of a breakout year going i really hope Highland Park doesn’t. Their small size and determination makes them a unique and fun group to watch they add more depth to the DFW area than it already has. Let’s hope the best for Highland Park next year, a new year and they must keep the momentum going. I think they can pull it off but we’ll have to wait and see. Outstanding show last year. Here it is if any of you missed it. The sound they pack despite being so small, it’s something you have to appreciate in a program like this: Highland Parks 2019 Production: PLAY! -

My favorite show design that is overlooked is without a doubt Vista Ridges 2016 show, A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. Beautiful selections. We were on the topic of our favorite Leander shows so I’ll sneak in some of my off topic thoughts as well. I was also a big fan of their 2015, Orion. I enjoyed Idatarod quite a bit too actually. I suppose I’m just a fan of whatever was happening at Vista Ridges design meetings. This is a pipe dream of mine, I want Vista Ridge to play A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow again. I want them to play the selections in that entire show again. It was so effective to me. With the overhaul in directors and more depth in talent than ever before it could come out to be an amazing show. I feel the same with Orion actually, and yes I do still stand that Iditarod was ahead of its time.- 1,093 replies

To whoever asked about L.D Bell, their 2007 show is the end to one of their marching trilogieswhich spanned from their 2005 show to their 2007 show. All of these shows where interconnected.- 1,093 replies

I know we all like to believe flomo would’ve absolutely won Grand Nationals in 2016, but I can’t help but think Carmel and Avon would’ve put up a of a fight even with Flomos show. That’s not to say they couldn’t have won.- 1,093 replies

That claim could hold to be true. Weiss did attend St Louis two years after it was founded a Grand Nationals trip doesn’t seem to be out of the question for them. -

All Hallows’ Eve which was their 2016 show felt like what a Texan show really is when people mention it. It’s a simple concept elevated by a great music and visual book -

I rewatched the Cedar Park finalist feature on flo and the director does in fact say “We want to try and get out here every four years”
