  1. To be fair most of their shows have been very straightforward in the past (at least since 2014), I think it’s only recently they’ve stepped out of the box a little more. They filled a really nice niche of straightforward classical shows, but this new direction seems really fun and promising. Especially after Into The Grid which was a show nobody expected from them.
  2. You seem weirdly pressed. I think you’re lost. Nothing in the comment you were replying to warranted *that* response. It was a little ignorant of the situation The Woodlands is in, given starting a third guard is hefty work they don’t have the privilege to do at the moment but nothing super critical. I’m sure that comment you mentioned had no malice to it. It’s just a joking reference to the fact that TWHS very often places 4th, from CG to marching band that just seems their unfortunate fate. 4th place at the SA Super has also won the UIL SMBC gold thrice now…so not a bad place to be at all historically at least for marching band. Do not like unnecessarily snarky replies to mundane comments, so I thought I’d come out and say this. Constructive critique is not hating, interpreting as such tells more about your personal character than others.
  3. Can The Woodlands take scholastic world gold this year? As an uneducated guard person. I’m asking
  4. I can’t remember if they do two years then one off or just one on one off. If it’s off and on then this should be a break year for them.
  5. I think this is a really cool topic and something I’ve been thinking of. For every band that has a breakout season and becomes a mainstay contender, more bands are left fighting in the bubble and fade off after a few years. Friendswood is probably one of the best examples for this. There are others I just can’t think of right now.
  6. Broken Arrow doesn’t have a pattern, the last few years have just been a crazy coincidence. Tarpon Springs usually doesn’t announce their calendar until way later, but given their pattern rn it’s easy to make a guess.
  7. Sorry to burst your bubble but this is a pretty common rule through all circuits, probably just copy pasted from another older rulebook
  8. For sure! We often get lost in the numbers and clout but forget the small achievments.
  9. I can’t say I agree with this. I think if there was an inflation in scores the catalyst was the strength of Texas bands, not Avons guest visit.
  10. I’ve been meaning to ask the same thing but never got around to doing so. I’m in the minority when I say San Antonio scores are a little over-inflated in my opinion, especially finals. I think 2021 we got a better scope of where bands really stood in comparison to others nationally. I think bands are getting a lot better, but it’s a slower transition than an immediate jump in scores.
  11. I don’t think you’re presenting the Homer Hanna marching program in the best light given some of your recent posts. Let’s aim for more constructive content.
  12. That’s going to be rough financially. Might see them be a lot smaller next year.
  13. That’s interesting! I guess 4th place it the spot to be if you want a shot at UIL a championship.
  14. Every semifinals of every edition of grand nats.
  15. For the first time ever actually. Carmel and Marian Catholic (until this year) were the only bands to make every single Grand Nats semifinal. This leaves Carmel as the only band to never miss semifinals.
  16. Will this be the year Coppell finally takes the plunge? Way back in 2019 very early on the plan was Grand Nationals they switched it to do St. Louis but I think it’s been on their to-do list especially after great showings at SA and UIL today.
  17. We notice and appreciate the effort! Welcome to the world.
  18. I guess it’s time to start asking. Who’s going to Indy next year?!
  19. Funnily enough, this is the second time the 4th placing band at San Antonio has gone on to win the state title.
  20. Vista Ridge missed out on a medal due to those visual individual scores sadly.
  21. and congrats to Leander ISD for once again holding the TWO state champions for the highest UIL classifications!
  22. Respectfully ignoring this thread so I can watch delayed by two minutes on stream!
