Great competition yesterday. I have been so upset though after a few events transpired after the competition. When the finalist bands were in the parking lot a few kids from those bands called the JBA kids “F beaners”. Myself nor do the kids know because all the finalists bands were walking by. It’s a really sad thing to hear especially after all of us in the stadium were there to enjoy and stood up to clap after every finalist performance. Nobody deserves to have any racial slur said to them! I hope everyone on here knows how incredibly disgusted I am to hear this! We as a band community already face some bullying and then to hear this from within our own community is disappointing. I hope everyone sees just how wrong this is and I hope we find out who it was and an apology is made. Because who ever those kids were, you’re representing an organization and I’m sure no organization on here condones that kind of behavior.
Unbelievably disappointed to hear this. JBA was easily one of the most entertaining shows of the night, and heck even if it wasn't, NO ONE deserves that kind of treatment. Make my blood boil to know that they got away with this.

Listen, if Vandy's new niche includes playing 2000s classics as ballads that culminate with a guard member in a spinning prop, count me in.

WOW - looking at the times and groups for panel 1 and 2 for San Antonio - while the participant numbers are down (expected), this will be a very interesting match up as they pair the 2 panel process for finals.
So looking forward to this event.
Wait, where did you find the list?

Dang, I'm glad to see Txbands will be live blogging the event this year, but they stole my old job!

Oh wow, Westlake didn't have most of these props/scrims at Austin did they? At least I don't remember them
-
Whoa, the music in SFA's show is awesome!
-
It's a shame about the singer's mic not working, but the snippet of Cedar Ridge's closer that they put in is super cool, really liked that woodwind ensemble layered over the first impact.
-
Hoping for the sun to have an underdog victory and for this contest to not get rained out.
-
4-6 spanning across just one point is so interesting, I'm excited to see if this season stays this competitive, or if we see bands start to pull forward!

Took a look at the score breakdown, and WOW that visual GE score was huge for Rouse.

Wow! Rouse and Cedar Ridge in the top half!!
There does seem to be a discrepancy between the Music for All site and social media. Ann Richards is listed as going last, with Princeton as a no show on social media, and what I just posted on their site.

Vista Ridge - Quite an ambitious show. I’m so impressed with their marching ability. Really great brass feature moment in there. The percussion is amazing and I love what the timpani adds. Not crazy about the Katy Perry parts.
Agreed on that bit, it didn't really add much for me, and felt like it wasn't in line with the rhythm of the show.
-
I think Vista was great, but Leander is still my best of show so far.

Holy crap, Cedar Ridge blew me away. (obviously biased as an alumni but y'know let me be proud of my old program)

Super excited for tomorrow! It's been a while since I've been able to watch marching band of any kind in person! DCI Round Rock was an awesome return, and I'm stoked that the kids get to march again, and from what I've seen online, show design hasn't missed a step at my favorite programs!

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but
Hendrickson: The Arch
(at least that's what the announcer said in the YouTube video)
-
Oh wow, I had missed that CTJ was participating this year! What stacked contest!
-
I know it's obviously because of the repertoire overlap, but Brandeis' opener is reminding me of Cedar Ridge 2013, and it makes me happy.

Looks like prelims has been paused due to heat conditions.
-
The audio is fairly decent in this stream, but I feel like I'm having trouble hearing soloists from time to time.
-
This might be a dumb question, but is there any kind of ticket bundle where I'd be able to just pay once and get a ticket for both days of prelims and then finals? I seem to remember doing that in 2019, but maybe I'm misremembering.

In a more positive comment on Stony Point, their uniform game is always on point. Their previous Black and Gold/Yellow uniforms were some of favorites for a long time, and their new Yellow and Blue ones are super striking! I'm happy for them to see them opening up BOA Austin this year, after two years of waiting, I'm betting the kids are eager to perform, even if it's early!

I'm so dumb, I saw the name "Ryan Brittain" and was racking my brain as to where I had heard it.
He was one of my old band directors and I somehow managed to forget that in the moment.
