  1. Please don't tell me it's that same judge from 2018 lmaooo. Also this performance order ๐Ÿ˜ต
  2. Awesome! I was hoping this feature would be brought back. And thank you for including the results of each competition at the top.
  3. I was never at any point speaking specifically towards you. I said "parents in the stands". How I see it, props should be used to enhance a show rather than something to rely on. I don't see a problem with programs trying to be innovative with design and props to bring a show that surprises the crowd in a new way. There are many examples of shows that do extremely well with little to no props and if you took out all of CTJ's props, I guarantee you they would still place very high because of their performance. For Keller's props in 2015, they just found sticks outside, painted them white, and stuck them into styrofoam on wheels to make trees and that's it. They made San Antonio and Grand National finals. Ronald Reagan was was arguably the #1 band in 2019 and didn't have any props on the field. And don't get me wrong, I'm not denying that money and props don't give many bands an advantage or that some programs don't go overboard with props. Band is all about life lessons and if your child can come out of a contest happy with their performance regardless of what others do, then they are already ahead of the game. I am glad you responded respectfully and clarified your appreciation for everyone. The intermediate and middle school I went to had a total of a dozen or so kids in the band program and only one instructor. So, I just want people to be grateful and happy that they even get a music education and appreciate what others are able to achieve.
  4. I don't think anyone is dismissing the role that money plays. A school's disadvantage rate and the role money plays is no new topic to this forum and I can guarantee no on here takes whatever program they're associated with for granted. It just seems so unnecessary for some people to express their opinions in a way that almost sounds like programs shouldn't make use of the resources they have effectively. To complain that parents are able put their kids in private lessons or volunteer to help and be involved in their child's interest. (Not specifically saying this to you, just talking in general). The reality is that the playing field is not level, but that is the reality of anything you encounter in life. I understand the frustration when looking up at a group that has more money and support, and thinking that no matter what you do you can't touch them. Firstly, never discount yourself or you already lose. But also, your experience should be based on what you've achieved and not others. I know a lot of us here try our best to support every band that performs and give standing ovations for everyone, regardless of what they'll place or how they performed. So it's also frustrating and really ruins the mood when I hear any parents in the stands complaining about how this band doesn't deserve their placement or discounting what they've done because they have more funding.
  5. I think I was in first for a day or two ๐Ÿ˜. A lot of competitions happened today so we may see a lot of shifting.
  6. They sounded fantastic and wouldn't have been surprised if they won Music. Their ballad was really beautiful as well.
  7. I think their guard got 2nd behind Marcus at Duncanville 2019 so it makes sense. And Marcus isnโ€™t here this time to take first.
  8. These were the 6A caption awards Music: Waxahachie Visual: Keller Percussion: Berkner CG: Keller Central 1. Keller 2. Waxahachie 3. LD Bell
  9. Yeah, I'm still holding out hope but it looks like it'll be 5 going to state. And the winds were not friendly today. Lots of props falling and flags flying away lol.
  10. I like how bold some of these are! I 100% disagree with some of them but it has been a wild season so far.
  11. Awesome! Was not expecting LD Bell here. I guess with them not going to SASR, they are filling up with local contests. This really is a good area b preview.
  12. I believe they are in Area C now which is good news for the Area B bands fighting for a state spot.
  13. I agree about Waxahachie. Duncanville placed 18th at DFW in 2018 and still made state. Waxahachie sounded really good on Saturday at prelims. The visual design didn't seem as exciting as the years before but I still see them doing well in UIL. I also loved their closer.
  14. I wasn't able to find a schedule on their website. Anyone know who's going? I currently have: Keller Keller Central Timber Creek Waxahachie Haltom Lake Ridge
  15. Thank you! I scrolled past that thumbnail multiple times because I didn't realize it was them
  16. I think this is the year Timber Creek makes state.
  17. I brought in some water bottles in a drawstring bag last weekend at HEB so I think it should be fine.
  18. I know Keller got 5th at HEB this past weekend but it was just a prank y'all... I went to the KISD band expo yesterday and their electronics were working, but they still had mic problems lol ? HEB certainly changed up my predictions. I was looking at the HEB and DFW results from 2019 and there was a lot of shifting between contests so I don't know what to expect still. My current predictions: Flower Mound Hebron Marcus Wakeland Keller Coppell Waxahachie Timber Creek Carroll LD Bell James Martin Forney
  19. I was just re-reading some of the pages from the 2018 6A area B thread and it got a little wild ?
  20. Good thing I hadn't submitted my prediction list yet. I had JJ Pearce pretty high on the list.
