I hear you. The end of Leander’s ballad where the brass really swells has been constantly playing in my head since I went to bed last night. It was an amazing contest!!!!!

I wish I could have stayed in San Antonio to watch the 1A and 3A finals but I’m staying with a friend in Leander until Thursday, and it’s a two hour commute back and forth. 🥺

I revised the schedule in the very beginning of this thread to reflect the newest changes. SDOC dropped from the 9:15 am Friday morning slot and William J. Brennan has been added as a 10:15 pm performance on Friday evening.

It was an AMAZING contest. I’m so glad I came down to San Antonio early for it!

I am heading to San Antonio today from my friend’s house in Hurst, and I am so excited to see the finals of this incredible competition. I was able to catch a good number of the bands in prelims yesterday on Box5TV and I have to say that the talent in the 5A bands this year is absolutely through the roof!!! I kept exclaiming after every one, “Wow, that was amazing!” And they were!! How the judges can narrow it down to just 10 finalists is beyond me. I’m sad that I won’t get to see so many of these bands from yesterday in the Alamodome today. There are SO MANY that deserve to be in finals!!!!! 😅

Cedar Park is definitely looking and sounding like they are on track to take the 5A state championship again! And probably the 3A class championship at BOA SA next Saturday!

Band kids are literally the best kids.

I absolutely foresee this program in the discussion for SA finals in the very near future! And I can’t wait to see it happen for you guys!

It looks like they are doing both. Their prelims performance at San Antonio is Friday afternoon. Evidently they don’t anticipate making BOA SA finals so maybe they have decided to compete in US Bands as well since it’s on Saturday. Several bands have done both before.

It was definitely rough. Lots of the band kids ended up on crutches or in wheelchairs that weekend. It was nuts!!!

I agree completely! I love how supportive the band kids are of each other’s bands as well. If you want to see what I mean, follow each band’s Instagram account and see the love they show each other on Friday nights!!

That’s what Leander did in 2016. State finals was on Wednesday afternoon and then the truck headed straight for Indy while the Leander kids headed back to the Austin airport for an overnight flight. Leander didn’t perform at GN until Friday morning but it was still a tight timeline.
