Region 19 had 8 bands make a 1 and region 13 and 17 have yet to hold their contest. Recent news is that Elkins, even if they qualified for area, wouldn’t go because it’s their homecoming. Considering there are 22 bands in regions 13 and 17 combined, and considering all those bands are quite capable of making a 1 at region, Elkins opting not to go can potentially screw over 5th place if the bands in 13 and 17 all make ones...

If friendswood we’re still 6A, wouldn’t they be in this area as well?

We had to completely redo our ballad that week after the Friendswood competition and opted to not go to do a stadium rehearsal that morning instead
