  1. I share your confidence - looking forward to seeing (and cheering for) TWHS in Houston, SA and Indy this year
  2. I predicted in 2017 that the data showed that CTJ would win BOA-SA based on their 2.80 Point win in Austin with a full show on the field, and their 4.70 Point win in Midland - the earliest program to break a 90 in a regional. they went on to win BOA-SA and scored the new highest score at BOA-SA and the highest score outside of GNats with 96.625 yes - I am biased - but I posted it because I believed it - otherwise I would have to take crap from LeanderMomma if they did not live up to it. not ready to commit just yet to a placement - I have no doubt that CTJ will finish in the top 5 in BOA-SA and set a record for doing so 9 consecutive years (for a 12 year old program) - I fully expect them to Medal in Indy in 2019 #teamtexas
  3. this regional may dictate who may line up for a medal in SA - with Hebron going to GN - it could be huge - the past 2 years, their standing has not moved between this show and SA
  4. in 2017 CTJ performed Pentatonix version of Hallelujah - it was awesome
  5. While CTJ does not traditionally do a show reveal - after the political references made last year - I thought best to nip this in the bud early - profile is the new show shirt Claudia Taylor"Lady Bird" Johnson High School presents their 2019 field production "Episode Two - The Circle of Life" Inspired by Disney's "The Lion King" and in honor of the 2019 release of the film, Episode 2... continues the sage of our 2017 production "the forest through the trees" and in this episode, instead of the amazon rain forest, it finds us traveling to the Serengeti - specifically the Pride Lands Music selections include: Imagine by John Lennon - arranged by Pentatonix The First Circle - by Pat Metheny Music from the smash hit - "The Lion King" to include: This Land/King of Pride Rock I just can't wait to be king The circle of life as someone that has seen the show design, music and the awesome uniform design by FJM - this will be a show for the ages (yes, I am biased) - But I am excited to see this show on the field in Austin, San Antonio and Indy. "you may say I'm a dreamer.. but I'm not the only one... I hope someday you will join us.. and the world will live as one..." John Lennon
  6. more Pat Metheny to come in 2019 - or so I am told.......
  7. We have confirmation of 6 programs that will attend Grand Nationals on November 2019. Claudia Taylor Johnson High School Hebron High School Leander High School Round Rock High School The Woodlands High School Vandergrift High School Honorary Texas Band - Avon High School as in 2016 - the CTJ Alumni group is working on creating the #teamtexas shirt for the members that will compete in GNats. This shirt will be available to all of the 7 programs listed we hope to have these available at BOA SA as well - but time will tell. I hope to share with the group once we have completed the design. the back of the shirt will have the names of the 6 schools and the front will include a Texas theme and our hashtags
  8. that song is nowhere in the show - it is figuratively stated - the Jungle is the clue
  9. I won't concede to Leander any more than you will concede to CTJ - welcome to the Jungle - Pun intended
  10. but the next year CTJ won BOA SA with the highest score ever scored outside of GN - not to discount those programs - looking forward to #teamtexas in indy
  11. I would swap - Hebron and CTJ , you mentioned Hebron 2015 show - CTJ beat them in the dome. I think that all the Texas bands will bring their best game. - I will state (again) - I am partial to CTJ (surprise) I think this GN competition is ripe for a Texas dominance. From the Eagle on down to the finals. this will elevate the BOA shows in Texas this season - we could see some some insane competition Looking forward to update this as the season progresses
  12. to that point - TWHSParent recently posted the programs recently eliminated. most are 10th-14th place finishers - the one stand out is CTJ - Flashdance - a 4th place finish in 2016 that was eliminated in that list. maybe we all need to get our grandmas email address and have multiple log ons too - from Family Guy Leander - Ma Leander - Mother Leander - MAMA Leander - MOM Leander - Mommy Leander - and the list goes on and on - does it make them feel better if they vote their program a winner for a contest that has already been played out and they lost I am done
  13. throw TKE123 to that list - while it is a game - I saw the same as they trashed the CTJ programs in earlier events like this - always promoting the Reagan shows or downgrading the CTJ shows once they were out it all comes out on the field - I have little time for children using grandmas email to create shadow accounts

  15. football remains big in CA - part of the difference is that CA and a few other states run "unified" school districts - and at the end of the day count on the state for financial support. In Texas - the school districts are "independent" and get the bulk of their income from the property taxes. they do not report to a local municipality - though they do funnel/share funds with the state. I am sure that it is different for every program - but our district has 7 schools here, and 1 program gets new uniforms so about every 7 years for our schools. in CA, my alma mater had the same uniforms we marched in back in the early 80's until they got a new design in 2006.

  17. I grew up in NorCal and we competed in NCBA events and my alma mater has hosted a NCBA event for the past 40+ years. the biggest reason (IMO) that we don't see more CA bands in BOA is money. the fine arts has been gutted the past few decades. no money for instruments, having to fund raise for years to get new uniforms, etc. indoor guard and percussion is a more manageable competition from an expense point. here in Texas, the HS Directors are engaged at the MS level and in many cases have known and instructed most students for 3 years prior to arriving in HS. not the case in CA When I was in High School, there was 1 program with a semi trailer - in Texas, it is the norm and many have 2 semis and then some. I was at our alma mater event in 2016. with 3700 students enrolled - the band had 38 members on the field. it is a crying shame

  19. I would agree. I would think at least a medal or two will go to #teamtexas
  20. with what currently looks like a smaller than normal field at GN - I think the 6 programs that are attending will show what Texas Marching band is all about - I plan to be there and think CTJ will have an awesome show - but I think there are many in this Texas group that can crowd the top half of the finals - hoping to see the eagle return to Texas in 2019
