  1. It's called gerrymandering. ?
  2. And Vista had an admittedly bad run in Austin Finals this year. They knew it coming off the field. The Prelims run was better. That wasn't the case in '18 or '19. But, certainly, it's a hill to climb. S.A. competition is no joke.
  3. It is always a bit of a crapshoot with Texas bands making the trip up to Indy. Any band with hope of competing for the Eagle has a lot of built-in advantages to overcome compared to the bands from Indiana/Ohio, etc. But if we can keep sending a half dozen San Antonio Finals-worthy bands each year, we will have a shot each year. I think that's what it takes to have an even shot at Kevin making his home in the Lone Star State each offseason.
  4. In both '18 and '19 VR placed same or higher at San Antonio than they did at BOA Austin. I think this gets overlooked. Considering how absurdly deep San Antonio is, that speaks to serious adjustments and improvement.
  5. There seems to be a lot of conviction Texas only takes one of the top 3 spots. Hmmmm.....
  6. Just hoping we get twenty 1's at Region so there are four State spots. With 23 bands, that SHOULD be safe.
  7. People need to start SHARING the performance schedule! ?

  9. As the guy in charge of running the VRMF, I appreciate reading this. Congrats on a wonderful pair of performances! Also, we brought together an EXCELLENT panel of judges from across the country, so I know that all of our bands got some great feedback this weekend.
  10. I really think you have made your point, repeatedly, and need to dial it back now. Also, there is nothing in the statement "Round Rock choosing to attend Westlake has never prevented them from reaching grand national finals in the past and it won't this year either" that is some guarantee that they will make Finals at GNats this year. If it happens or it doesn't happen, it won't have ANYTHING to do with the decision to go to Westlake over TMC.
  11. Not all of these decisions are made with strategy in mind. Yes, Round Rock goes to the Westlake contest out of loyalty. Frankly, I admire them for that. The Westlake folks are awesome and run a great contest.
  12. And if all that isn't enough - There's the massive traffic jam to get out of the parking lot when it's over! ?
  13. What class are you asking about?
  14. Fingers crossed for Johnson. Their rental tractor broke down and they are scrambling to find a replacement.
  15. The weather forecast is giving me a heartache. ?
  16. VR did not have a good run in Finals. They knew that coming off the field.
  17. I think it will hit differently when the full show is on the field.
  18. I really hope things pick back up around here. It seems like there would typically be a lot more discussion about the contest the day before it happens.
