  1. Exactly. It's a strategy that would be for Region only to ensure that you advance.
  2. It is enforced at Area and State Prelims, but not State Finals.
  3. Starting in another place would require changing the initial set on the field, which would take time. Ending early can be a last-second change.
  4. It seems like it happens to some band every year - technical issues delay the start of the show and result in a time violation and a 2 at Region. I've always wondered if there would be some wisdom in the band setting up an emergency ripcord signal. Have the band pre-determine an emergency stopping point, like before the last part of the show - a place where they would have stopped before they had the entire show on the field earlier in the season. When there is an issue like that delaying the start, the director tells the drum majors and they give a signal to the band right before starting the show so that everyone knows they are stopping short. Is that at all feasible? Just a thought in my head.
  5. Nvm, answered my own question... http://www.uilmusicregion11.com/uploads/1/3/5/3/13535811/1_6a_area_h_tentative_schedule_9-2-2022.pdf
  6. With 4 spots on the line you get 10 in Finals, correct?
  7. I think that's a tough claim to support.
  8. Region 29 Contest - Saturday, October 15th - Farris Stadium, San Antonio 5:45 - Sotomayor (NV) 6:00 - Holmes 6:15 - John Jay 6:30 - Warren 6:45 - Clark 7:00 - Marshall 7:15 - Brandeis 7:30 - Brennan 7:45 - Taft 8:00 - Harlan 8:15 - O'Connor 8:30 - Stevens
  9. You are correct. Two 1's and a 2 equates to a 1 for the band and advances the band to Area.
  10. Don't think of scores as being objective. They are primarily a tool for a judge to rank order bands. Beyond that, different judges use the scores differently. They may be communicating something else to the bands they are scoring, but you probably don't really know unless you also have access to their comments.
  11. This is correct. The ordinals are the only thing that really matters.
  12. Look two columns to the right for 6A Marching Band alignment.
