Pieper, Weslaco, La Joya and Los Fresnos all have a good chance of performing twice.

The last time La Joya went was in 2019 and they seem to have grown a lot since then.

The other three I believe are all new faces to this regional.

I'd be really happy to see some new faces in finals here. I remember seeing Pieper at the Waco regional last year and for it being their 2nd year open, they had some big sounds, and you could tell those kids were really trying, and then they went and won a US Bands comp, so I'd be very surprised if they don't make finals here. It's going to be fun to watch their progress this season.

Medal Contenders

1. Del Rio

1. Alexander

1. Pieper

1. Roma

Finals Locks

5. Pioneer

5. PSJA

5. United

5. Weslaco

Finals Contenders

9. Rio Grande City

9. Hidalgo

9. Edinburg

9. Edinburg North

9. Vela

9. Medina Valley

Medina Valley is not on the attendance list.

Personally I’d give that spot to La Joya, but their performance slot isn’t doing them any favors. They’ve seemed to had a fair amount of growth since their last attendance in 2019.

Just obtained this video from JBA. I know it's still early in the season, but it seems that they have regressed a little especially in the brass. The gold is literally a wild card.

I agree, JBA definitely doesn’t sound as strong off the back, but they most likely will clean up, but I wouldn’t say first is theirs for sure at the moment

I am pretty confident that they will find their stride, but I do agree that they aren’t as strong as they were in previous years… that being said, it is early in the season and knowing those kids’ work ethic, they can and will be better
