I can easily think of at least 4 bands that are presently playing better than that. Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Avon had a night and day better run today. They have quite a bit of time to clean that ending, I'm certainly confident in them going into SA. Tonight they showed they can easily be top 3 Quote

Marching Observer Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 That performance was so much better than their prelims run and they still won that. With two weeks to clean, it's going to be something special because that run was the first time that they really sold that show to me and felt that that could really contend. jmartin1056 1 Quote

What we don't know is where our bands are relative to them, and we won't for 2 more weeks. The UIL contests won't really give us much info in that regard. Quote
zururoua Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 I'm thinking Avon wins, but Carmel takes visual. I still don't think Avon will win SA, but they'll be top 4 for sure. Homestead and Castle both brought it tonight. Very very entertaining night to watch. Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Also knowing Avon, this ending is temporary. I'm sure it will be changed by Grand Nationals. Probably even SA. Regardless this show is very good and I'm thrilled to see how it will do in SA. Quote

San Antonio could very well be a different story. SA is the end game for most of our Texas bands and they are going to make it count. I'm feeling better today about our Texas bands' chances. Quote

Marching Observer Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 A lot can certainly happen in two weeks. I've seen plenty of groups go from night to day in less time than that. Avon doesn't really seem like a band you would ever want to turn your back on and underestimate. jmartin1056 1 Quote

Marching Observer Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Oh my gosh. Music for All helped setup the Sophie Rinehart Fund in honor of her after she lost her life just hours after their Grand National finals performance and have pledged to donate $1 for every ticket sold to the Indianapolis Super Regional in 2017, 18, and 19. Today, they were happy to say they were able to give $15,194 to the fund to help those who also wish to learn music. For those that don't know, Sophie was the Castle singer and part of the flute duet in their finalist show. This is simply incredible and fantastic that Music for All is doing that. All the feels! whitewing09 1 Quote

They will probably get fourth or even fifth sadly. I am definitely cheering for Texas though! Hard Core Band Fan 1 Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Avon has plenty of time to clean. Carmel came back from a loss at this competition to beat Avon. It all comes down to cleaning. They can do it. Quote
zururoua Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 I did not anticipate the scores being so low for a super regional... Quote

hadji Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 A week is a lot of time to improve, and some were labeling it low, so I feel now it should people that it was not. Quote

I don't think Carmel or Avon should have scored below a 92 or 93. I think Broken Arrow will get a 95 in St. Louis here in a few minutes. Edit: BA only received an 88.80. Scores in St Louis are even lower than Indy! Quote
