Band_dad_of_2
The schedule is available for the Lone Star Classic. Interesting that John Horn dropped back down to SS1 Red...there will be a new champion in SS1 Silver. http://www.marcuspercussion.com/percussion/LoneStarClassic/ScheduleSS1,Marching.aspx http://www.marcuspercussion.com/percussion/LoneStarClassic/ScheduleSS2.aspx Looking forward to a good battle between Vandergrift and Richland who finished 2nd and 3rd last year. Great lineup as usual. Good luck to all of the drumlines!!

Good Luck FloMo, make it three in a row
principalagent
I would imagine it's because with the eight hour rule, practice time is limited and few bands want to give up hours to teach a marching drumline show as well. northtexasbandfan
And yet Hebron is, too, on the midst of the band's Grand Nats prep. Which FloMo did last year as well. FloMoParent
snares
I believe the 8 hour rule applies to band, and a separate 8 hours is given to the drumline. So I don't know how much of those 8 hours are used or if they're used at all, but I would bet bands like Hebron and Keller, or Flowermound and Wakeland last year used those 8 hours, probably religiously
takigan
I believe the 8 hour rule applies to band, and a separate 8 hours is given to the drumline. So I don't know how much of those 8 hours are used or if they're used at all, but I would bet bands like Hebron and Keller, or Flowermound and Wakeland last year used those 8 hours, probably religiously I don't believe that is correct...Even if the school can label the 2 groups as separate organizations, UIL may allow this but it doesn't matter under Texas law. At the least, the drumline would likely have to practice their Lone Star show on Saturday if they're already commiting 8 hours to the band during the week to abide by TEA rules. But even then I don't think it matters. At some schools, the entire marching band meets during the same class period, at some schools the students who are in symphonic band might meet during 1st period, concert band during 2nd etc......some schools split it caption style where all Trumpets meet during 1st period, clarinets 2nd, drumline 3rd for example. The schools that learn a marching drumline show probably have a schedule like the latter....And a drumline can have a UIL marching show and a LoneStar marching show on their plate and still be just as competitive. Also keep in mind that UIL limits you to I think 5 1/2 hours of time spent on the show during the school day. If band is double blocked on a block schedule the drumline could use the excess to learn a separate program as well. Read this starting on page 13. bingogooberman
Marching should be between Flo Mo and Hebron, the latter of which is competing stronger than they have in years. Plano sr. Could also make some noise. In ss1 silver it's looking like Richland, Plano East and the 3 LISD schools in finals. Ss1 red is looking super competitive as well, with John Horn moving down for some reason. It will be interesting to see if they are still dominant or if Coppell, Newman Smith or defending champion Highland Park will challenge them. Those 4 should appear in finals with Wylie looking like a nice bet for the 5th spot. Maybe Springtown. Ss2 silver seems especially difficult to call. Defending champion McKinney North and Liberty should do well, as should Azle.this class often sees developing drumlines ascend quickly so it's tough to predict. Ss2 red seems like Keller Central, Granbury and maybe Burleson on top. Though, again, lots of room for drumlines to grow in this class. Bishop Dunne, though not really competitive, always puts on a fantastic show. Should be a great contest this weekend VictoryRun
