I belive the metronome was off beat, but the stayed together really well. They originally werent going to have the metronome and adding it was a last minute choice, and they were trying to turn it off after the intro since it was off which caused some confusion In the band it was considered a bad run, but still way ahead of what theyve done the past 5 years so it was still considered a success. They should have the ballad finished by game 3 which will be exciting to see from them Quote

Lone Star sound 50% better than they did at Argyle... they are still working on their drill..... this run was cleaner than the last time..... they are going to more movement if they want to be competitive.... lots park and bark right now.... I will give them their woodwind section is incredible this year..... π π β€οΈ....Β Quote

The colorguard is SO CLEAN, and I love how theyβre integrated throughout the performance. Really looking forward to seeing the show in full production! Oh my gosh, look at that guard go! I'm smitten. Love the music, too. I can't wait to see how this Westlake show develops over the season. πΒ Wylie is kind of blowing my mind right now. What an opening statement from the brass, and the music just doesn't let up! I'm thoroughly entertained. I had to look up their guard's WGI results from last season, because I thought they'd be in Open, but I'm surprised to see they were A. They look like an Open finalist to me. These are really fast, tricky phrases, and they're already kind of killing it. Such a well-rounded band this season. I really like Cedar Park's show so far as well. Music is always great, but I feel like I may end up liking this visual program more than usual once they clean it. Could they breach the top half at BOA San Antonio this year? I think there's a good chance. πΒ I haven't heard Pearland, but they seem to have upped the ante with the visual difficulty. Guard is really gunning for the world class, I think, which is appropriate. The opening flags are so impressive -- all that running and spinning, then that backfield block with the phrase that connects into both a 45 and a cross-toss, if I'm remembering it right. It's just so fast and... Wow! Issues with upper bodies and out-of-step marchers and general control of the form right now, but again, the difficulty seems higher. Woodlands has another fun show. I'm concerned they have less than three minutes on the field, but that seems to be how they roll these days. They turned up the tempo tonight on that first part, and the brass struggled to stay in time, in tune, and in control. Kinda frantic. Meanwhile, the guard is nails, even at the faster tempo. I'm blown away by them every single year. Love the florid, two-tone skirts, too. If The Woodlands can get us talking about their musicians the way that we talk about their guard, they'd be golden. Reagan is another one that seemed to me like a work in progress. If I recall correctly, they're playing a lot of Simple Gifts, but Reagan-fied. I loved that undulating block in the middle of field at the beginning, when most of the band is around the perimeter of the whole field. Another really cool show that I think will be cooler when they clean it up a bit. Overall, I'm loving pretty much everything this year. Texas bands have come a long way! Popular Post Rubisco Posted September 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted September 15, 2025 Got to watch some more soundless videos. I don't have a subscription, so I'm reliant on charity. π Flower Mound looks great -- definitely more in line with their 2023 and 2024 shows than, say, 2022. And it seems like they may have performed nearly the full thing. Lots of cubist (?) faces backfield, and a couple of neat stages that get moved around, but my favorite are the mobiles that they carry, with the dangling face parts. They're like ghostly, disassembled faces floating throughout the drill. It's very cool. The drill is classic FloMo. It commands the full space of the field, with lots of aesthetically appealing folding files and long follow-the-leaders. Not the most demanding thing compared to, say, Vandegrift. They don't fly around as much. But I think they'll be able to get it very clean, which is an effect in itself. I think they're going to have another great season. I don't know what Cedar Ridge's show is called -- I'd have to go back and check -- but it seems horror-adjacent, with blood-shot eyes backfield and the guard in blood-red burkas, or something that resembles a burka. (Cloaks, let's say that.) They're moving around a bunch of shark-fin-looking things that make the field quite craggy, I suppose. It's all kinda gothic feeling, just based on the visual. It reminds me positively of that gargoyle show they did a couple years ago. They seem to be reaching a place of consistent quality again.
