[Panel Predictions] - Top 6 @ End of Day 1

Panel 2:

Thoughts: I think the Panel 2 had the larger aggregate of "finals locks" IMO. Personally, Lake Travis deserves to be in the discussion for top 6 in Panel 2, as well as Bridgeland (which I missed). Reagan could overtake Cedar Park in prelims, but my personal opinion still edges toward Cedar Park. I think Panel 1 at this point only has 2 bands we will see in finals, due to the depth of tomorrow (as well as the contest)...However CTJ could still maybe get an at large bid. Bowie and Westlake could switch.

 

Overall a ton of great bands today, even more great bands tomorrow, and the cut off for making finals is extremely competitive. Excited for tomorrow!

14 finalists. Two panels of judges. Judges score everyone like normal, for their group. At the end of prelims, top 5 from each panel go to finals. Then the last four finalists are considered “at-large”, which will be the top 4 remaining bands that are highest scored.

I think it was their best run of the season, overcoming being stuck on the bus for almost 8 hours due to 3 accidents and construction, and then performing at 10:00pm following Bridgeland. They held their own and turned out a great performance. Being a bubble band in 6A Area B is no joke; and always coming in 3rd behind Keller and Timbercreek. But they have heart! With their new director, hopefully they can punch through the wall and join the ranks.

Cedar Ridge had a transportation issue with their charters cancelling a few hours before they departed. Break now, next band on at 10:15am, CR time is TBD

Sounds like the "other" issues in play are the fact that I-10 is closed in Seguin. This likely has set back transportation for Houston groups (it has for Cypress Woods, based on conversations in the stands). And well, there's 10 Houston bands in the 21 left to go.

I-35 not in much better shape between Austin and San Antonio. Generally a disaster trying to get there right now

Good morning BOA! Excited for day 2! Missed all of block 5, so Im going with what I had prior to today for predictions. Unsure if this delay for CR pushes them to another panel or not. Seems like we are in an unscheduled break as of now, since Hebron was slated to preform.

Sometimes I'm glad I'm not in the positions these directors are in. What do you even do when your whole band's transportation cancels a few hours ahead of time, likely at a crazy early time before anyone else is even awake.

Even if they took 130 out of Austin, as soon as you hit San Antonio the traffic is awful with construction and general driver behavior. It's only ~5 hours before prelims is over, so at best they have 3 hours to get here and have time for warmup, etc. Fingers crossed for them.

Yeah it's a complete mess.  I10 and I35 were a total disaster yesterday trying to get out of SA in the late afternoon.  Took me close to 3 hrs to get home on a drive that's usually just over 1.5 hrs.
