Ok I JUST watched their prelims run, it’s very difficult to focus on the visual ensemble, just LOOKING at the visual ensemble, not focusing on the screens. I do wonder how this plays out with visual GE.

Maybe it’s some meta level social commentary on how screens distract parents from their kids. Or how screens come between youth and their families.

I just watched the Leander show myself. As much as I love their program it's very difficult to focus on the marching because of those screens. I tried to go back and watch it three times trying really hard to not look at the screens and as I would start to lock in on the movements my eyes would drift back to the screens. 

I know all the big programs want to do something cool and unique but that is going overboard with it.

Tarpon springs did something similar and it was received well by judges/fans, although they didn’t put a giant bright screen right on the front sideline 50. Also reminds me of LV Berkner’s 2012 show about the states of water, they also had video boards along the front sideline. However, those did not even approach the level of distraction as these current Leander joints.

The tarpon screens were staged much more effectively than on the front sideline 50. The tarpon screens were also not as high resolution as the leander screens, which actually helps imo. Not as distracting seeing just a red square compared to an odd looking alice in wonderland animation.
