  1. the schedule was supposed to be released yesterday... but it's still not out. =[ if you know that your band is going, I'd love to know too!
  2. well our guards show ends with a Triple rifle toss. yay!
  3. yah... we're attempting mvmt. 4 on thursday and our contest on saturday. it looks interesting...
  4. I liked your show either way.
  5. I've done number 10 once... =], but I was a freshman then.
  6. I love number 1 on that list, just because our team hasn't won so far...
  7. I do. Simply because I know a composition career won't exactly pay the bills. But I'd rather not do marching band... although, I already have my future bands marching shows for the first 4 or 5 years already planned out music wise. and I also have concert UIL shows picked too. =]
  8. dang! I wanted an honest opinion on our band. we finished marking sets today... just gotta learn em now.
  9. yah, like I said, I was on floor crew last year, and I'm friends with captain, co captain and lieutenant, so I hear all the terms.
  10. yah, I completely agree. I don't think I can think of something that hasn't been said in band that hasn't been made into some sort of innuendo.
  11. wow... let's not make this NC-17 or X rated...
  12. of course w/ 2 pages of notes, where can you go wrong. hahaha. but honestly I agreed with almost everything. The technical speaker issues that one of the bands had was sad. I felt really bad for that flute player.
  13. wow. ok, that changes things. I was going to record it, but I forgot my camera. I think if this was Bell at GNats we woulda been blown out of our seats.
  14. I generally agree with the review. I did feel like Bell was missing just a little something. But it was still awesome.
  15. ah... holes. Gotta love em. Our director's new favorite line "people, the infirmary is getting rather large, so if you can march at all, then you need to. we can't march holes"
  16. yah... about 6 or 7 of those things I had a very difficult time seeing our director saying.... It's one of those things that only happens in a dream.
  17. hahahaha. wow that was soooo messed up. We have a saxaphone player who said last year that band was "all about sucking and blowing"
  18. What's the difference between a lawn mower and a saxaphone? You can tune the lawn mower. The most generic joke I have, but it's my favorite: How do you get two oboes in tune? Shoot one!
  19. I'll hafta agree with the bickering flute player jokes. But, I think we have a pretty decent flute section.
  20. yah. Agreed. I think the drill we have learned right now takes us up to the measure before the tempo change.
  21. yah, borchnork isn't a word that you would use in an everyday conversation...
  22. basically... I don't know how to explain it any better outside of just pointing it out. Just remember to look at the flags the guard uses in the 2nd mvmt. at practice on Monday!
  23. haha, yup. It was me. I saw you with the shirt earlier that day too, as you were walking up the stairs from the concession stand or something. I recognized the Dome Sweet Dome, but I couldn't place where I saw it from, and I didn't want to say "hey, do I know you from somewhere?" because I think my dad woulda been a little freaked out. hahaha.
  24. regular flags have a pole, swing flags don't... well, they do, but they're the height of the flag, so it seems almost as if there's no pole there. see if you can spot the difference on Monday, David. haha. I only memorized this because I was on floor crew last year, so I've been introduced to almost all the guard lingo.
  25. were you wearing your Txbands shirt? I think I said something to you about how I was just there to watch right after Birdville performed... Because I was walking across to the other side where some other CHS kids were and somebody was like "hey centennial!" ... And about the Grainger, that's only part of the reason I feel it's risky. Interpretation is a killer, but then his music is also very complex chordally (if that's even a word...). To nail the tuning required for a show like that for 8 minutes is really hard.
