Lake Dallas' new director has done a really good job with their band. I can't recall the name for the life of me, but they seem like a completely different band program now, and it's all for the better.

mm, ok. I'm fine with that. I have been interested in seeing their show for a while. Isn't it titled something like "The Escape" ?

I wouldn't be surprised. Looks like we're going to hafta step up our game. O well, it just makes for a more interesting Area B competition.

I went to Wakeland's site. Is Lewisville a last minute sign up? becuase I didn't recall them being on the schedule last week.

Creative Idea... Kinda like our show. Just "Bells!" Instead of "Bells for Stokowski" Although, when the announcer at Carrollton was announcing the show for finals he stumbled when he was trying to say "Based off of Daugherty's Bells for Sto...Stokowski"

I'll agree that Wylie was very good both this year and last (and numerous years before). Something about the show this year was lacking for me, but they still did it really well.

Aledo is looking very good. I was wowed by their show. I'm assuming The Colony is also doing well considering the placed higher than Aledo at the CTOC.

My Favorite show of the night was easily Creekview! I was easily entertained the entire time! Also, Sachse and Aledo topped my favorites of the night off as well. I didn't get to see the Colony, so no opinion on them. Mansfield was really really good, and even though they didn't compete, I was wowed by Newman Smith's exhibition performance. I think what really would have pumped up Mansfield's show was the tuning during the woodwind choir sections. If that get's improved (which would really only take like... an hour or so and I can completely see happening by the end of this week if it's worked on) then I think that show would (and will) be one for the record books.

that sounds like a show little elm did last year. It was like "the collapse of Rome" it was a really cool concept.

also the swing flags have styrofoam bells on them. yah... just more info.

We'll only be marching mvmts. 1-3. But they look really sharp. I'm happy with the quality. =]

I love block scheduling. =] How does your school get to be an IB school? I wish we had those courses at Centennial.

well, the paint fades really quickly. and also, I'm not sure what other schools do, but we put our initials on our spot, and we also have 6-7 different colors of pens so if you memorize the color (and you know your initials) it's pretty easy.

yah, just a triple. It's a big deal for us cus it's our first time it's ever been attempted at our school. =]

Sachse deserves it though... I know how hard it is to compliment a rival band. It's like trying to purposely allow yourself to fail a reporting period so that you'd miss out on band. =[

that's pretty cool. I'm off to make the predictions for it now!

I love paint pens! It's a Sharpie that is basically a pen with paint rather than ink. We use it on the parking lot to mark sets permanently so that it only comes out after a lot of rain and sunshine.

next game is on Thursday against Mckinney Boyd. I'd say since we beat them last year, I'm expecting to beat them again, but I said that about Sachse and we ended up losing.

In schedule order: 1A: Orchestra 2A: Band 3A: AP Biology (Currently working on homework...) 4A: EARLY RELEASE YAY!!! 1B: AP English IV 2B: AP Calculus AB 3B: AP Economics/AP Government 4B: I.S.M. (my favorite course! we get to choose what we study and we get to pick mentors from the real world and study w/ them. It's a BLAST! if you're school doesn't offer it, you should try to see if they will!!!)

I'll hafta second that. Somebody put Centennial as first. While that is rather flattering, with all the other amazing bands that will be there, I don't exactly feel this will happen. It'd be nice if it did though. =]

I'm praying that we start winning percussion captions again. We used to all the time freshman and sophomore year... and last year it just kinda dropped off...

WE FINISHED LEARNING TODAY! yah... it needs a lot of cleaning, and the end of our closer needs to go about 40 beats faster still. But we'll get it!
