  2. Hmmm.... Plano East or Poteet....???? I think I'm gonna hafta say Poteet, but this one will be quite a battle. I'm definitely going to hafta go and watch this.
  3. Area B should be labeled "cruel and unusual punishment". I mean, just look at 4A for next year... Wakeland, Centennial, Birdville, Joshua, The Colony, Sherman, Aledo, Newman Smith, Southwest and Timberview.... There's pretty much the finals right there. I'm looking forward to this contest for sure though!!!! It'll be interesting to see how Bell and Marcus play out again...
  4. I will hafta agree with a lot of these points here, especially cus I have now seen both sides coming from Centennial where I think last year we marched 74 winds? to this year at UNT where we are marching over 80 flutes and clarinets alone (I think grand total we have about 300 on the field). Sound is an amazing thing to have. One of the hugggeee disadvantages to a smaller band is that everybody has to play all the time to even try to compete with a larger groups sound. But at the other end, the larger numbers have made a huge difference in the cleanliness in drill. Sure, UNT's band is naturally gifted in the playing and marching department, and we don't need a super large amount of drilling to perfect our show cus of the experience we have, but trying to get a section of 45 kids to stay in a straight line is nowhere near as simple as back at CHS when we had 20 flutes. Personally, I hafta say smaller is better. But I say smaller very... loosely. I think about 140-180 winds is more than enough to get a full, powerful sound if everybody plays their instrument correctly, and a small enough ensemble to make drill cleaning and fundamental improvement very simple.
  5. Ours last year... that we never got made... were going to say "Flutes, The Best section You've never heard before." and then have our names on the back. I liked it a lot, but I ran out of time in my schedule to get them done.

  17. I just got full details of Centennial's show. The title is "Get a Clue" based on Enigma Variations. It's a really cute and funny show. They basically have a game of clue going on back field. The guard is dressed in Red, Blue and Yellow dresses, like the Clue game pieces. I loved it.
