The Plano East Band. Electronic Guitar definitely gets to focus. Wanted to like it more as a whole.

Proud of the Rockwall Heath Band! This stadium was electrified by Hebron. They came out with a solid run. Have seen show several times this year and this one was of their best. Not sure enough for finals but they are headed in right direction!

It’s Hebron and everyone else. The real deal. From moment they take the field…the hero solo…chills…a few uncharacteristic rifle drops and squeaks. Does not matter. Un flipping real! Take my money, take my children.

Sachse in tough spot between Boyd and Hebron but had nice moments. Liked pre show. The color bombs startled me. Ha.

McKinney Boyd starting the day off with a reminder of why they made state last year. Really enjoyed flute solo.

First “Band” to take the field this morning are the Rocking Black Bird Band from Birdville ISD. They are performing as an exhibition band. They are a bit pitchy. Formations strong. Flying towards to South endzone.

Good Morning from Area C Marching Contest in Mesquite. The lights are on, the mysterious shadows of Hebron’s circles are in the parking lot, and the Whataburger breakfast bob has been taken in!

If Rockwall makes finals, they can make a run for 6! Their show at night just feels different. Football team has a bye this week so put on a community performance tonight! Good Luck to everyone tomorrow!

Last year, we found our RHS had made finals and drew the first march when they got up and filed out before announcements 😂

Decisions decisions tomorrow. Hit the Mesquite Golden Corral for lunch and load up on carbs to get through finals OR Old school Town East Food Court!!!

The yokohama robins are coming off a pretty impressive performance at BOA Cleveland, missing finals by just 3 bands so 7 seems fairly legit. Clearly you aren’t expecting Hebron James Band to adjust too well to the 10-11 hours between prelims and finals march. Have an inside scoop?

Who can tell me about M&G Johnson? Have a college friend w/ kids in this band. My kid is in an Area C band. Would be amazing to catch up with him at State if both bands made it. Do they have a shot? C will be tough but hoping for a great run.

Technically Royse City. Though parts of RCISD fall under Collin and Hunt Counties too 😂

We were looking at that today. 4-5 of those pre 10 am bands have real shots at Finals. Could easily be 10-12 hours between runs.

Would love to see it. I think 3 Rockwall County Schools making finals would be awesome and send a few shock waves northeast of us.

Did you know in 2021, Rockwall was 6th and just missed state because they only took 5 that year. Had NF and one other band made area, would have qualified.

I want Rockwall Heath to bring that energy they played with at the Rockwall vs RHHS football game. That was electric. I thought that was even better than their Mesquite festival performance. Didn’t get to see Denton. Heard very solid at Royse City but hard to compare due to competition the same way it was hard to compare Rockwall’s win at Birdville last year. A lot of great kids in the Hawk band and love how the two RISD bands put rivalry aside for these contest and support each other. How special it would be to see them stand together at 11:00pm Saturday night.

These bands 4-16 are getting so good it will put pressure on the Big Dogs to get even better. Enjoy these bands folks. We are blessed.

My can’t sleep so might as well predict list… 1) Rockwall Just messing….pod system…. Pod 1 1) Hebron James 2) Marcus 3) Flower Mound 4) Prosper Analysis….Hebron James Marching band takes its talents back to San Antonio. 2-4 could easily juggle spots depending on who gets a hot march but their results thus far this year suggest solid footing at the doorsteps of state. Pod 2….to State or Not to State. This one is rough because 2 will move on and 2 will feel gut punched. 5. Mckinney Boyd 6. Rockwall 7. Rock Hill 8. Plano East Analysis. Clearly my name dictates my bias here but Rockwall seems to be putting it all together at the right time. If they can make finals, their show strikes differently at night and will hang with the names. Boyd at 5 is giving not to State experience. Pod 3. 9. Lewisville 10. Wylie East 11. Wylie 12. Plano Analysis….any of these 4 could march themselves right into Pod 2 and contend for one of the State spots. Lewisville may be there on reputation as I can’t seem to find much on them. The Wylies always have solid shows. Plano won my PISD Ro sham bo tournament for the 12th spot. Pod 4 (13-20)….ABC order. ALL solid bands that find themselves one great march to finals or one slip away from pod 4 purgatory. Allen, Braswell, Lakeview Centennial, Little Elm, McKinney, Rockwall Heath, Sachse, VR Eaton. Rockwall H is getting better each year Coming off a win at Royse City Marching contest, they may be able to surprise people on Saturday WTD Pod 5 (21-31} The Rest. There’s not a single weak band here. These bands are probably another year away. Out of 31 bands, all but 2 made straight 1’s at Region. Thats just incredible. Byron Nelson, Garland, Guyer, Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Forney, North Garland, Plano West, Rowlett, Royse City, Tyler Legacy. Analysis all really good bands. Hard to place all of these bands because haven’t seen all in person. Realllllly enjoyed Royse City at Region. They won at Princeton I believe. N Forney and Horn are always creative and fun. Any given Saturday, one of these bands could break the glass ceiling and pull another Pod 5 band up with them.

You are assuming they make finals…. Bold 😂 That being said, part of me wasnt looking forward to a 5:30am wake up calL and school by 6:15…. but…. Get their early, put on an awesome show and then relax all day while others march with a high of 90 degrees? 6:30 awards, make Finals and march again after the sun goes down…. Give me the am early block 😂
