  3. So I got the chance to watch Round Rock, Vandegrift, Dripping Springs, McKinney Boyd, and Cy-Fair while working and I have to say, those performances were really good!!! Vandegrift and McKinney Boyd had my favorites from the part of the block I got to see, but I want to congratulate Round Rock and Vandegrift on making Finals!!!! A huge congratulations to all the bands that advanced on to finals and to those who performed today! Can't wait to watch them perform in Finals tomorrow!
  4. Even though I have to get off now :(, I will say I really enjoyed the performances that I did get to watch today! Hebron, The Woodlands, Midland, John B. Alexander, Brownsville Hanna, Westlake, and Waxahachie gave really good performances and I can't wait to see who will advance on! Also can't wait to watch Finals tomorrow and see who gets crowned as the 2022 UIL Conference 6A State Marching Champion!
  5. So I will be able to watch up until about 3:15-3:30 pm depending on timing. Hope I can at least see a couple of more bands after Brownsville Hanna!
  6. I didn't realize how good of a spot it is until I went to a contest for the first time in almost 3 years. Because when I was in band, we usually were sitting at the end corners somewhere, like when I competed at Mansfield Contest in 2015, Little Elm in 2017, Area in 2018, and At state in 2018 when we watched Canton perform in Finals. But Now I truly understand why that section is "the best seat in the house"
  7. I was not prepared for the first hit from The Woodlands. It made me jump XD
  8. I definitely understand that fully! I attended Area C and got the opportunity to see Hebron perform from the top and at the 50, and it was really good!
  9. so I just bought a subscription to the network just for the event, but I will only be able to watch a few performances for Prelims and Finals tomorrow. But I should be able to watch both Prelims and Finals for 4A and 2A!
  10. I'm glad to see Argyle take a big step like this! I got the chance to be in multiple contests that they were in, including Sounds of Fall, UIL Area, and UIL State! I'll always remember when we finished 2nd to them in 2018 at Area, and to think that Melissa and Argyle were the top 2 for a bit in 2020 and 2021 😆! Congratulations to Argyle and here is to the next step of a triumphant journey!
  11. Box5 TV was so good with it...Do I have to pay for them to watch the event?

  16. out of what I did get to see, here is how I rank the bands- Making finals- Timpson Beckville Union Grove Out of finals- Shelbyville Hawkins Bands that I feel will also make finals- Carlisle Ore City In the bubble to make finals- Harleton Overton
  17. Hawkins- Good performance. This was the first State Military Appearance for the Hawkins HS Band and they had a good run. I enjoyed the final two movements musical selections! Issues I did see was they were having issues with their formations, and had some students stepping off at wrong times. They also were having issues with their musical techniques and tones. Overall, a good run by the Hawkins HS Band and I wish them the best of luck!
  18. Beckville- Really good performance! The reigning Bronze Medalist is looking to join the finals pack and they may have done just that! I really like the music and the formations that they have, and the only big issue I was seeing is they were struggling to make lines, because they were almost always curved. They played with good force for a 2A and I feel that they have a shot for Finals. Also great job to the one twirler that they had! Overall, good job to the Beckville High School Band and I hope to see them in Finals! I wish them the best of luck!
  19. Alright, so apparently I watched the ending to Union Grove. Anyways, here are my thoughts on Shelbyville and Timpson- Shelbyville- They had a really good performance! I really enjoyed their musical selections and they did have some good marching formations! The main issue I was seeing for them was they were having issues making some formations and some of the students were not in line with the rest of the band and stood out. Overall, good performance and the best of luck! Timpson- Very nice performance! The reigning Silver Medalist is looking to add another medal to their collection! They did very well with their musical selections and really had a coupe of moments where sets weren't lined correctly. I also really liked the Tuba duet feature! Something you don't get to see as often in Military shows! Overall, really nice performance from the Timpson HS Band and I hope to see them in finals tonight! Wish them the best of luck!
  20. So I just started watching the stream at the end of Shelbyville. Did anyone catch any of the earlier performances?
  21. In terms of contests, I'm super excited about it! On the other hand, there was always something that felt so special about only getting 2 opportunities to advance to State. With it being every year, it will at some point just feel like another contest for those who advance to it every single time. It will also be more expensive for those in 5A-6A. I also think Super Regional may become a contest people skip if they want to do Grand Nationals because of how much money would be spent on the trips.
  22. Alright, with Area weekend Officially over, I feel like I can now talk about my thoughts on the 6 bands that have qualified for the State contest! ADVANCERS TO STATE: Hebron- I don't know where to even begin with this band. They put on a performance that was even better than the last one! The music is phenomenal and the marching techniques are better than ever! I even found out that they haven't had their closer on the field for that long, and the fact that they came to Area and walked away as Area Champion says so much about where this group is heading in the next couple of weeks. Look out San Antonio, Hebron High School Band is heading your way and You are not going to want to miss them! Flower Mound- Their show is so unique and the title says it all! The props help with the story, and even let you know where they are in the show! The uniforms are so cool and fit in very well with what they are wanting to achieve! The music is great and the marching style is on point. I feel like Flower Mound has a chance at the Top 3 this year, but who is to say what will happen. The Flower Mound High School Band is Flying to San Antonio to tell you the story of The Adventures of Super Band and you do not want to miss it! Marcus- Their show is so interesting and feels like I'm watching a new version of Tilt from the Bluecoats! Marcus is coming back and they are coming back strong! Their music is Awesome and they are doing very well in marching. I feel that we will soon be seeing the return of the Early 2010's Marcus in the coming years, and this show is only the beginning! Pivot is such a cool show, and San Antonio, they are looking to give you a show you will not forget! Wylie- I REALLY Love that opening hit from the Brass. That Wylie Band is here to tell you stories through the echo's of the Canyon's. Their props are really nice, their music is great, and they are marching with precision! They are looking to be a Finals contender and I hope to see them do just that! Here comes Canyon's San Antonio, and you are about to be taken into a whole new world with Canyons! Wylie East- WOW, first Year as a 6A and they are Advancing to the State Contest! Wylie East has put on a phenomenal show this year, and it is awesome to see them continue their journey with their sister school as well! The preshow music is still so cool and fits in well with the announcers script! When they play come together, it is such a amazing piece and the emotion throughout the show is something else! San Antonio, Wylie East High School band is coming with a Re-Imagined look and you do not want to miss their performance! McKinney Boyd- Where do I even begin with the Bronco Band. They have a great opener and the force given by the brass and woodwinds is such a cool moment to be apart of. The story they tell is great and the props go well with what they are wanting to say. They marched very well and are on the voyage of making History. I want to take a quick moment and give a HUGE congratulations to them as this is the first time that McKinney Boyd High School Band is advancing to the UIL State Championships! San Antonio keep those Beacon's shining bright, because the Beacon of Hope is coming your way and you don't want to miss it!
  23. Goodluck to Ya'll at State!!!
