  1. Welp, the 6A state are 5A area now being done, here are my final predictions for this comp! Definitely gonna be a big battle for those last couple of spots, hoping to see first-times in finals: 1st. Vandergrift (visual) 2nd. Marcus (music) 3rd. The Woodlands (GE) 4th. Ronald Regan 5th. Vista Ridge 6th. Rouse 7th. Cedar Park 8th. Bridgeland 9th. Wakeland 10th. Cedar Ridge 11th. Round Rock 12th. CTJ 13th. Westwood 14th. L.D. Bell A 1st. Krum (sweep) 2nd. Pecos 3rd. Manor New Tech AA 1st. Argyle (sweep) 2nd. Roma 3rd. Grapevine AAA 1st. Rouse (music/GE) 2nd. Cedar Park 3rd. Wakeland (visual) AAAA 1st. Vandergrift (visual) 2nd. Marcus (music) 3rd. The Woodlands (GE)
  2. Lovejoy should be back in finals next year, unfortunately they got a 2 at region for going overtime if you haven’t heard yet, but I’d say the probably would have placed in the 7th-9th range
  3. Also, I do want to give a HUGE Shoutout to Marcus!!! going from 13th at boa SA and 9th at state to 2ND at state... I don't think people understand HOW hard to pull off that type of jump in placements is, and Ik this is a completely different group and show, but that's still super impressive, they are my dark horse to win SA if Vandy or The Woodlands don't, but an absolute historic season for them, and my favorite show of theirs in a good while, although I LOVED the missing piece
  4. OMG your right!!! As much as I'd love for an upset, I really hope they win because then they will have everything you get from marching band (many regionals wins, 3x state (4A in 2013 and 6A in 2022/23), and GN's in 2019)! Also have won Honor band so like a SA win is all they need, lets go get it Vandergrift!
  5. Congratulations to Vandergrift on the two time!!! Seems they are starting to build quite the dynasty over there, will be interesting to see how things are at SA, would love for Marcus to upset. congratulations to all our finalists and to all the bands who competed these past two days!!!
  6. I think the marching band activity as a whole is starting to shift away from just strict marching and more bodywork/choreography, which yes is what most of North's show is, but seeing how they did at area, I don't think them not having a ton of marching is something they should be worried about.
  7. Super strong performance from Waxahachie! Love all their musical selections, I remember watching Yellowstone with my family so hearing the theme takes me back, and Rocky Point Holiday is always a classic. Very rich brass sounds and soloist were great, amazing job Waxahachie!
  8. I decided to just listen to the shows while doing some schoolwork starting with Bridgeland.....Wow, just wow. Such a beautiful performance, they had me in tears by the end. The Clarinet and Euphonium soloist play with such a mature sound, wonderful ensemble sounds, I see why they are here and it's so worthy, love this show so much, great job Bridgeland!
  9. Hey Everyone! So a separate thread has been made specifically for State Finals, so for the sake of not getting mixed up between the two and this one not being a million pages long, lets try to use that one instead, thanks!
  10. Seeing how Blue Springs did at St. Louis, I don't see them outside the top 5, they will definitely be over William Mason, otherwise solid predictions, though I wouldn't count out Fishers. I'd say it's less of a hot take and more of a very realistic possibility. CTJ was one out from state finals and were the second band to go, which really hurt them, but I think assuming they had a strong performance there's a good chance they would have been in over one of the other bands, not a guarantee but for sure a possibility
  11. Good luck to everyone today! Won’t be able to watch any of finals but should be able to catch the retreat, would love for Marcus to take the gold, should be an exciting retreat!
  12. There’s totally, definitely not a video of their performance on YT
  13. Personally thought they had a great run! I will admit, I think they lacked a decent amount of Dynamics and there weren’t any moments on the stream at least that got me all excited, so I’m guessing so. Im still surprised they were that low but we should hopefully see some improvement tomorrow, probably just individually stuff we couldn’t here
  14. Some shocking results to say the least, but HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Cy-Fair and Bridgeland!!! I hope the kids at CTJ are doing okay, come prove us wrong and do great at BOA San Antonio!!! Good luck to all our finalist, I unfortunately won't be able to watch any finals, hoping I can catch the retreat, but it should be an exciting day!
  15. So, I'm doing rankings for top half and then tiers for bottom half since that's where it gets really tricky. Please keep in mind that this is probably the most competitive 6A state we've had to date, so take it with a grain of salt. Also, for any members who are in the medium/low chance, this in no way means your band is bad, it's just super competitive, and am just trying to make realistic predictions, but every single band that stepped out on the field today was incredible, and could arguably make finals. Prelims Predictions: 1st. Hebron ---- 2nd. Marcus 3rd. The Woodlands 4th. Vista Ridge 5th. Flowermound 6th. Vandegrift 7th. Ronald Regan Locks for finals: Pearland, Round Rock Very High chance of making finals: CTJ, Timber Creek, L.D. Bell, Wylie, Prosper, Coppell, Waxahachie, Cy-Fair, Westlake, Bridgeland, Keller, Westwood, North Shore Senior, Dripping Springs, Lake Travis Medium chance of making finals: Wylie East, Dickinson, College Park, Klien Oak, Tompkins, Cypress-Woods, Tomball Memorial, Clear Brook, Seven Lakes, Haltom, Dawson, Berkner Low chance of making finals: JBA, Pebble Hills, Midland, PSJA, Cornado, Permian, United,
  16. Also supper happy Waxahachie didn't end up getting disqualified!
  17. I unfortunately missed the visual part of DS but from what I heard they did very well, hoping they can slip into finals at GN's and maybe even here. I'm now going to compose my predictions/tier list. I didn't get to watch some of these bands but am going off of what ya'll said about them, will post it after making my list.
  18. 😮 Wow, hopefully the show gets posted on YT so I can see what happened, surprised I didn't catch it but glad they recoverd fast
  19. Yeah, I could see this happening, for them it really depends on how the judges feel, because there's a ton of controversy around their show design this year among the fans, but they did win TMC and Area, but again against other Austin area bands, but should be top half, medaling isn't guaranteed, at least for me
  20. Yeah I agree, I personally have Hebron and Marcus above them (yes I'm crazy, don't care), but I think they have a much better run in them, but if Hebron pulls off the type of performance they had today, I don't see them getting passed, just my personal opinion but anything could happen here
  21. Amazing performance from Vandergrift! I will admit, after seeing all these other bands, I felt desiring more from the musically, and I ultimately think Hebron will take them, at least tonight. Both were clean, but Hebron's show is just on a completely different level, drill was very clean but some stick outs in the big curvilinear forms, but I think they will still medal. Just so clean all around, great job Viper Band!
  22. I feel this lol, as a Rangers fan I've been catching up with the game since it started after each band
  23. Great performance from North Shore!! Also so fun to hear "blow it up, start again"! Really great sounds all around, and they really showed the theme throughout the show, great job North Shore!
