  1. I think there’s been some confusion regarding them. Some yeses and some nos but who knows at this point.
  2. I mean, I personally think they’d have no issue getting into finals, they just need a really good show. 21 was absolutely fantastic, and last year, while wasn’t at good, still was amazing, making state and boa finals back to back after not making either since 16, but I definitely understand if they are submitting for Midwest.
  3. Do you know why? I’m hoping not anything major.
  4. God getting into finals is gonna be such a bloodbath this year.
  5. Isn’t Coppell confirmed going as well? Also, if it’s true, super hyped for Dripping Springs!
  6. Will most likely be attending this since I won’t be able to attend boa dfw. Kinda sad I can’t but also super excited to see these amazing programs, will still be plenty of great bands here!
  7. Just saw Mansfield has this on their calendar
  8. also confirmed: Lebanon Trail Would say likely: Flower Mound Lonestar Mckinney Lake Ridge Sachse Lovejoy Frisco Liberty
  9. Yea!!!! It’s been a while since they’ve been, and I’m happy that they are going back!!! Will be a very strong contender for finals!!! I may have to try and take the trip up for this one considering what the lineup is starting to look like!
  10. Flomo will not be there. They go on a 3 year cycle, going and then normally waiting 2 years with Covid year being an exception, so they should be going in 24/25, but Hebron is going, at least so I’ve heard.seems Coppell and round rock are also confirmed
  11. Well, the 2023 Baylor football schedule was just released, and unfortunately we have a home game this day, so it seems almost impossible that the event will be at McLane
  12. Yeah, can’t till right now, but we will see as the season starts.
  13. I went to Lovejoy in Lucas/Allen Texas(2018-22)My freshmen yeah was our first time placing top 3 at any comp(got 3rd twice that year), so we had a ton of momentum going into 19, a state year. We won(for the first time in program history) 2 contest, but finished 6th at Area B after getting 4th in prelims. Noting in 20 bc of Covid and 21 was alright, finished 9th at area finals. But last year, they won a comp and got 7th at boa waco, making boa finals at their first boa comp, so I was very excited for them about that, especially after finishing 9th yet again at area, but 5A area b is so hard to make state from.
  14. Yeah same here man. Got 2 area runs and always getting so close to state. And yes, this will be the first time other than 2021 that they start doing this where state is yearly for all conferences
  15. There was a new rule change allowing for all divisions 1A-6A to have the state contest every year. It’s something that’s been pressed for some time by some groups for a whole and was finally passed recently.
  16. I really wonder what the lineup is going to look like! I definitely could see this mainly being the programs around the Melissa area all coming here like Denison, Sherman, maybe the McKinney schools? I’m hoping it’s not just all smaller 4A schools, and we get some good 5A/6A programs, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it was a lot of smaller bands. Exciting regardless!
  17. Pearland will undoubtedly win this contest again! I’d definitely have SFA and Dawson making it, most likely Clear Brook, with the 5th spot between man groups such as Dickson, Clements,Brazoswood, ect
  18. Seven Lakes in confirmed for this event (going here over boa SA), as well as both Houstin regionals.
  19. Really hoping this is at McLane again!!! Would love to do another exhibition for y’all and watch some of these incredible programs!!! Praying we don’t have a game this day 🤞
  20. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 They have needed to go back, and I’m super happy about this!!! If they can pull something big together, they could place very well! Super exciting!
  21. Okay I did my research, and the kids who want to do a conference up start competing with that conference at the region level, so sorry for any confusion. But again, to answer your question, the kids do it to compete with a conference that’s more “difficult” than theirs, but yes unfortunately 6A kids will only be able to do 6A region-state, and it also means they will have more competition
  22. Okay, so if I remember correctly, this is how it works. Everyone had do the region phase of TMEA in the class that their school is in(1A-6A). After that, if a student decides they want to, they have the option to complete in a conference up from the one they are in, assuming the students qualified for area in the region phase. Then, of course if they decided to, they will be competing with the 6A kids in the area they would have been in if their school was the class they are now trying competent in. They can they qualify to that classes state honor band. For your case, the kids would attend 5A region, 6A area, snd then 6A state. I could be wrong on the region part and would all be the same classification the whole process, but ultimately it’s just the kids deciding they want to compete in a “harder” classification.
  23. I just heard the news. Apparently some major financial issues. One my college friends is a recent age out(2020-2022), and he’s devastated, as well as the staff and members of the core. This does give lead way for other cores to possibly experience a new level of success with SCV being on of the most dominant cores of recent time, but I’m absolutely heartbroken for the members of this core. Thoughts and prayers for everyone who’s been affected by the news.
  24. While this has nothing to do with band, I wanted to wish the Vandegrift football team the best of luck at the state against Desoto. Winning this would be such a huge accomplishment after the band won state, and I would love to see them take home the Lone Star Cup this year! It won't be easy taking down Desoto, but I would love for LISD to have another big win!
  25. I definitely agree with this. I saw them at boa dfw and they absolutely deserved that class A title. The opening with the trumpet and other duet was just incredible, and they put out such amazing sounds for their size. However, it seemed based on the video I saw of their finals run that the cold weather got to them that evening, and they seemed to hit their peek around the middle of the season, having their full show done by dfw, while the other bands were just getting the end of their shows together. Regardless they have a bright future ahead of them for sure!
