They haven't been a powerhouse like they are now until Post-Covid Before that, making Area finals was a struggle for them on their own, but since 2021 yes, I would say they've been moderately consistent with making finals at the comps they attend. And this 100% will not happen lol. Coppell is another band much like SLC, who was really good pre-covid, but came back Extremely strong, winning area both in 2021 and 2022. I'm curious as to why you have them so low, as they are definitely the favorite to win area again after placing 4th at BOA Dfw

Yeah I agree with this. I'll put specific predictions below, but I feel like Regan, Ridge and Round Rock are 100% in. CTJ should still be in, just may not be as high as past years. For the last spot, I see it between Drippings Springs or Westwood, and right now leaning a little more towards DS, but I haven't see Wood since Austin, so I wouldn't be surprised if they take it as they have an incredible show this year. Here's my final predictions: 1st. Ronald Regan 2nd. Cedar Ridge 3rd. Round Rock/CTJ 4th. CTJ/ Round Rock 5th. Dripping Springs/Westwood 6th. Westwood/Dripping Springs 7th. McNeil 8th. I don't know about Highlands and Highland Park. Seeing how low their visual and music scores were at BOA, they've both still got a lot of work to do. Both are more "fun" shows than super competitive shows, at least in my opinion, but neither are super hard shows, especially Highland Park, so while I do see them both possibly making finals, I struggle to see either of them making state unless they have cleaned up like cray.

Pieper IMO should be a lock for state. They've had an amazing season, getting 2nd at BOA McAllen and winning a Usbands comp. I could personally see them in the top 3 over Hays or McCallum. Top 8 are my solid ones while the last two are a guess as of now, need to do some more research. Here's my predictions for this one: 1st. Hendrickson 2nd. McCallum 3rd. Jack C. Hays 4th. Pieper 5th. Lake Belton/Georgetown 6th. Georgetown/Lake Belton 7th. Pflugerville 8th. Belton 9th. Seguin 10th. Smithson Valley

Yeah I could see them being out, it’s not their best how compared to the past couple years, but I’m just assuming that by the time we get here they will have it all cleaned up, but if they don’t do great at Area I’ll probably move them around some

Hey everyone! So I will be attending this comp this year! I’ve got some freshmen friends here at Baylor from a couple of the schools here, and while I was originally planning on going to Area C, they really wanted to come here and don’t have rides, so Ive decided to take them. I’ve never been to an Austin based comp, nor seen any of these bands live except for Vista in 21 at GN finals, so I’m extremely excited! Idk yet if I’ll be doing commentary or not throughout the day, but I’ll definitely do a final thoughts once I get back to campus. But anyways, if there is a link to buy tickets, I’d be very grateful if someone could post it, and for any info on Gupton stadium and just any general “good to knows” before coming here. I’m very excited to see some of these incredible bands live for the first time! Should be another great weekend of marching band Edit: just found the link for tickets!

I don't think it's a hot take at all! I'm secretly (not so much anymore lol) rooting for them to win, no hate towards the other programs just a huge fan of Wylie, but I 100% think it's very much possible. There show this year is amazing, and it's definitely catered to boa as much as it is to UIL IMO, but DS is also having an amazing year, will be very close between the two! and yes I did thanks for the notice, just fixed it

I understand your comment. I don’t really heavily take into consideration past contest, especially when there will have been much time for improvement between now and this comp. If Churchill ends up beating DS at area then ill definitely change, but it’s less me sleeping on them and more how I feel they will be by this time compared to how the other bands will be at this time, but they definitely could prove me wrong

Alright after watching some of the bands, here’s my current predictions: 1st. Dripping Springs 2nd. Wylie 3rd. Rock Hill 4th. Clear Brook 5th. MG Johnson 6th. Braswell 7th. Winston Churchill 8th. McKinney 9th. Lake Ridge 10th. Plano East 11th. James Martin 12th. Garland/ New Braunfels As of now DS is definitely the favorite to win, but I could see Wylie taking it. Rock Hill had a very successful weekend at Prosper and will imo win 3A, but I could see them and CB taking it. Other than that I feel like they only other placement is I could see Mckinney over Churchill, but this is what finals will most likely look close to being. And this is assuming Azle isn’t attending, but if they maybe are, I’d put them probably in 6th or 7th and move everyone else down

Definitely Timber Creek and Keller Central. I think Timber really should make it in seeing how well they did at Prosper, and KC also had an amazing day

I think they honestly could win it all, would be VERY surprised if they don’t medal, but they are going to do very well here

All good, happens to the best of yes! But to your point, I do expect KC to be at the top and make state this year. Saw them Saturday at Prosper and was absolutely blown away by their pure and powerful sound. Great show, and they display the theme of the show so well through in the drill, could see them making a case for state/ BOA SA finals 👀👀👀

For Southlake it’s simply bc their show is more heavily focused towards BOA, but seeing the music caption scores has me a little worried. For Lake Ridge it’s more of a guess, but they seem I peek right around area, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Berkner was over them

yeah, I agree, but IDK, that 28th just isn't sitting well with me. I don't think they are safely in second, or even a state qualifier IMO, I would have expected those overall music and visual scores to be higher, and seeing how Pine Tree and North mesquite have been doing, they are gonna really need to clean up. Forney will obviously win and probably get 1st from all judges, but the other 2 spots are up for grabs by many bands, Poteet being one of them, but Forney is my only band that is a lock for state

Okay so after this weekend, here's what I'm thinking. Most of these bands are taking the 21st off, so it's gonna be interesting to see if it helps or hurts certain bands, as normally area is the weekend following region, may change if certain bands to compete this weekend: 1st. Rouse ( I really, really believe) 2nd. Cedar Park 3rd. Wakeland 4th. Leander 5th. Forney 6th. Burleson Centennial 7th. Hendrickson 8th. Aledo 9th. Friendswood 10th. Lonestar 11th. Roma 12th. Lebanon Trail Idk some are pretty solid some more of guessing, will probably change after area but yeah here's where I'm at right now

Well, here are my final predictions for this Area. They are based on one, is the show more UIL than BOA, how each band has done at their contest and just general stats about each program. It's going to be yet another extremely tough area, as always, with many bands having their best season to date, but here's my final guess: 1st. Coppell 2nd. Timber Creek 3rd. L.D. Bell 4th. Keller Central 5th. Waxahachie (could switch with KC) 6th. Keller (could IMO be anywhere as high as 3rd if they have really cleaned up visual wise) 7th. Duncanville 8th. Southlake Carroll 9th. Haltom 10th. Lake Ridge 11th. Lake Highlands 12th. Berkner/Fossil Ridge/Boswell/ Pearce So I feel like top 6, while placements are interchangeable, I don't see it being any different than this. That 7th spot is really IMO between D-Ville or SLC, really depends on the judges, as Southlake's show is definitely more for BOA, so I have them 8th simply because of that, but if they execute well and clean, I could see them making state. 9th-12th is somewhat a guess, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't these bands, really I think the big fight is for those last two spots. Really just hoping that Keller Central finally gets in, will be a fun one!
