Haha, yes, I'm a she. And yes, I'm fine! I had a bad week last week..but I finally got over my cold (for the most part..I'm still a little sniffly) and got caught up with Calculus, which made my life a LOT easier! I'm going to create a topic called "Things that Rock" so I don't sound like such a pessimist [but i can't right now because i have to study for my college English test in the morning!]

Things that suck: 1.) Being really behind in Calculus, and having to turn in everything by Friday, the end of the grading period 2.) Everyone making such a big deal over Valentine's Day. Seriously, what's the big deal? Oh well, at least I have an excuse to break my diet with CHOCOLATE 3.) Being sick with this cold that's been going around my school. I've been sick for almost a whole week! 4.) Needing new reeds and not having time to go all the way to Pasadena (about 20 minutes away--not that far, but it seems like forever if you drive with me and my slowness) and buy some more. 5.) Stupid people going around my neighborhood and setting off car alarms at 12:55 A.M. Yeah, it wakes me up. And I wake up @ 6AM for my 7AM college classes every morning..and I NEED my 8 hours or I'm a total grouch. I think that's it lol.

OoO..yay for AC! last year was miserable. I stayed outside after I played my solo and my ensemble because it felt better outside (I remember it was cold) than it did inside. It's cool that your 17th birthday is exactly one month from my 18th birthday

I think it has something to do with the TrimSpa stuff....but I'm really just guessing!

YaY! I'm not playing a solo (I played the last-minute-issued solo last year..), but I'm playing a small & medium ensemble. Oh, and happy early birthday! How old are you going to be, anyway? 17?

UT Austin or Sam Houston for me! I think Sam Houston is the one I'm going for, because they have a better chance of giving me the scholarships I need

Sadly, I am not playing a solo this year..my original solo, "Larghetto," wasn't on "The List" and the solo I was signed up for was the same one I played last year for solo and ensemble...long story short, it's too late to sign me up for another solo, so I'm only doing small & medium ensembles this year. It's actually OK, since I wasn't going for memorization anyway, but it's just WEIRD!

Another thing that sucks: The school putting the wrong class rank on your transcript when you've sent it to two schools (apparently 43 is the new 7)......and you have to have the fixed class rank on your file for UT by Feb 1, and they don't have it on yet

We were going to play "Fairest of the Fair" for our march, but I think our director decided on "Emblem of Unity" (blechh) as our march instead. I wouldn't know, because I wasn't at school yesterday when he announced it. We're also playing "October" and "Balkanya" (yay for my 4 measure clarinet solo!)

"What is the strangest cartoon on television today?" (Seriously, I've seen stranger) Answer: strawberry limeade

I didn't get a snow day...there was only ice (on my truck, none the less) and school wasn't cancelled in my school district

Question: Did you know Texas is being hit with snow and ice? My Random Answer: I hate my senior class shirt ..I seriously couldn't think of anything else

We haven't been cancelled..but we're not even getting ice this far south just yet. I know Huntsville & Conroe (about an hour and a half-ish north of Houston) had problems with ice and sleet and their schools got cancelled. Lucky them!

Trying out for 5A Bb Clarinet and making 16th overall, then finding out that NO Eb clarinets tried out this year in your region...and you wanted to tryout on Eb and decided against it when you couldnt get one for the summer

For real (and just so u know, i will never ever ever type/say that again)! It felt really nice outside today though...when it wasn't raining, that is. I hear the "Arctic Blast" is coming in tomorrow and may even cancel school on Tuesday because of the sleet that's supposedly coming here. I'm just glad the region 19 concert didn't get cancelled. Both bands rocked, and I'm not only saying that because I was in one of them

I bet I know which three seniors from Kingwood made state too! But congrats on making it to area AND making 22 with being sick

OoO..Chester is Okay. I sightread it once and we might play it for contest. Oh, and w00t for all of yall who are in the 2nd band region. I'm in 2nd band, 3rd year in a row..just for region 19

We're playing that for the spring concert, I believe

I like Molly on the Shore, but then again, I'm a little biased

ha, I'm actually learning to play the french horn as of yesterday

We've been sightreading some things, but I don't know what we're going to play for concert season yet. I think we MIGHT play another Sousa march this year, though, but otherwise, I have no clue!

Ours came in envelopes too..we didn't get them until yesterday, along with the district patches "October" is awesome..we might play that for UIL this year. The music is techincally easy, but it's one of those pieces that has to be played beautiful or you're screwed. We got something called "Kirkpatrick Fanfare" (??) and I can't even remember the other two songs..they were pretty boring, though. I certainly hope we get more challenging ones at the clinic. I mean, just because we're 2nd band doesn't mean we can't play. We survived that 5-hour-or-so audition!
