  5. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2021 5A State Marching gold medalists: The Cedar Park Timberwolf Band!
  6. I have the sheets. Heres a link: https://authenticity50.com/products/authenticity-50-exclusive-white-sheets
  7. That’s what I was saying, we don’t actually have any guarantee that as amazing as the bands in the second half are that they’re actually in the top half. It is interesting though to consider the likelihood that the top 6 performing bands all draw second half times. Anyone good with probability know the odds of that?
  8. Frenships draw is absurd. I know UIL wants to keep fairness in the draw but a band 5 hours from the venue in Lubbock should not have to go first block.
  9. Oh wow that’s great! Were they on the waitlist and another band dropped or did BOA just add a slot?
  10. This is one of those situations (Much like Round Rock 2018) where UIL should definitely have some discussions on how to move forward.
  11. Love the support.
  12. I’m inclined to believe this is the case, with UIL modernizing score sheets maybe they also followed suit with a top/half finals? I’m honestly not sure. If this was completely random it is a pretty interesting situation. Then again I don’t want to be that guy so I will say we don’t have a guarantee that all of the bands in the second half are top six, even if we have very strong very reliable guesses.
  13. Thank you for sharing. The energy is truly electrifying just through livestream. I’ve seen a lot of contests streamed but there’s an entirely new energy that I hear and feel in this crowd. Needless to say, it is awesome. Congratulations to all 5A State Qualifiers and thank you for giving up your time to entertain us audience members with your shows. By qualifiers I don’t just mean the hardworking students, but the parents who supported their students, the parents who worked on pit crew and all amazing program parents. I’m also talking to the outstanding directors. I’m talking to the gracious teachers who understand their band students might be out a few days, and are kind with deadlines. Thank you.
  14. That’s news. I don’t think Dripping Springs have ever been 6A. Speaking of Argyle moving up to 5A, which area would they be in? I imagine Dripping Springs would be in 6A Area D but I’m not sure where Argyle would land.
  15. Long travel times is my guess.
  16. I’m more worried for the bands that aren’t going to the San Antonio Super that also have an early draw time. They most certainly have to stay the night in San Antonio or risk a lot of things by trying to leave home immensely early.
  17. I don’t think they’re a dark horse just because of their next directors, Friendswood has always been a very good band with an outside shot at finals.
  18. Good morning.
  19. If there’s anyone in Texas that knows how to clean a show the best, it’s Vista Ridge.
  20. What a heartbreakingly rough draw for Edinburg North.
  21. Vista Ridge 2019 at Midland comes to mind.
  22. I thought that as unfortunate as Leanders situation was it was maybe a lesson to avoid such ambitious schedules, it looks like maybe it wasn’t. Sure you can leave Indy with a very nice top half placement even if you go this route, but we really should be looking out for the kids mental and physical health a lot more. Their health is much more important than placements.
  23. I remember hearing about how rough this was on the Leander kids, I’m really surprised Round Rock is going to be doing the exact same thing this year. No disrespect to Round Rocks band intended but this is definitely a really rough schedule for the students.
  24. I’m not really sure what this comment means. If the judges see that a band that’s traditionally successful struggles in performance then they’ll score them lower, if they see a band that traditionally struggles be successful they’ll see them higher. It’s not about if the judges are personally deciding to ruffle feathers with scoring or not.
  25. Not sure your first instinct should be saying judging was off instead of congratulating the bands that made it.
