Ah. It would be fun to go to the feb 1st... but our schedule is pretty full and that’s a weekend we actually don’t have anything- and we need that. Lol.

Just practice. We have no idea even on the theme or props... maybe the kids do but it’s not out to parents yet. They have staging camp Thursday/Friday depending on which guard...

that was the beauty of the gathering we had in Indy - with the exception of my wife and I - the participants in the gathering did not have kids in a program - they were all Alumni parents from many programs as well as our TXbands folks, HornRanks and the MFA CEO
it is difficult to get parents that have kids in the program to attend this type of event - they are tied to the travel plan of their child
That’s my problem... someday I’ll be just an alumni parent.

I think we generally have region on tuesday nights. For the competitions hosted at woodforest- the schools take turns doing host duties... College park had done BOA Houston until they switched this year. Oak ridge does UIL region, and we do Lonestar. I’m not sure who did the usbands competition.

Here in Houston it looks like Tuesday night, Wednesday all day, and Thursday morning will be a washout. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are currently looking OK, as is Friday.
And of course... our stadium time for practice is wed.

Our kids will fly out wed night. The trucks will leave either late Tuesday night or early wed morning. I think we keep our prelim on Friday just to make sure the trucks have some wiggle room to get there. Last time they had a practice Thursday afternoon once the trucks arrived.

I would like to stop by, but probably won’t be one to count on for more than a quick hello... I’m traveling with my hubby that’s a bit of an introvert... so it’s still in negotiation what we will be doing in our free time we spend outside of LOS. But I really do hope I can talk him into a brief visit- or convince him to go do something on his own while I stop by and meet people.

I’m biased obviously.... but will wait to say my top (other than my bias) after I actually get to see a lot of them in San Antonio. I haven’t had a chance to see enough of them to choose yet.

I’m sure we would not be able to miss a UIL for a BOA. It would affect our school and district and all the other UIL activities/sports at the school and in the district.

Not sure how my schedule will go today. If I have a chance I may get over there for some of the stuff before 4pm. I’m chaperoning our band though so have to go meet them and do that stuff. We might get there in time to hear 5a results- but that’s not for sure.

Anyone from the Dallas area? Just wondering how the band families up there fared during the storms/tornado this morning.

The director referred to BOA Houston as us limping in on crutches. The night before for the football game was the very first time we were able to get the kids in the full sailor uniforms after a month of fittings and alterations because what was ordered and what came were not the same... Those props showed up that Thursday as well- so the kids were just barely starting to get used to them.I saw it this evening as well and you’re right. Huge difference from BOA Houston. Very entertaining show. Still so in love with the colorguard dresses and the entire band dressed in Navy uniforms. This show will do well in Indy. In fact I felt like I was watching an Indiana band when watching it. Perhaps TWHS has figured out the secret.
I feel like the crutches are gone and we are getting some momentum. (Knock on wood!) I’m excited to see where they take the show in the next month...

I don't know what program it is, but TWHS started using an app either 2017 season or 2018... not positive which it was. It seems to be a great system and definitely makes it easier to give out their parts to the kids and for everyone to be prepared.

Looks like this week will be hit or miss for Houston area bands if they get practices in. For us it’s high chance of rain tomorrow afternoon, wed is homecoming parade, Thursday might be the only clear day for practice... then homecoming game Friday and dance Saturday... and rain next week Monday, and hopefully clear for UIL tuesday.

Oak ridge won... I didn’t catch the numbers. Brazoswood was 2nd, and I can’t remember anything else. I’m sure someone will get in here with numbers soon. We are just barely getting home from it.

Yep in the 90’s for rehearsal yesterday... 75 and humid and muggy when I dropped off at 7am this morning, and 58 and dropping right now at 11:15am. Tomorrow’s weather will be great for contests!

I'm in IT, and I advise people to hold off updating to a new release of anything unless it's a security patch.
See that makes sense in my mind...
He’s just always been one of the first to download/upgrade/etc- since we were in college.
He does app deployment/end user stuff... I can use the IT vocabulary, but I don’t know much more than that. Lol!

My husband got his update first and he has been a grouchy bear ever since! I got mine Monday night and now I understand why.
They changed EVERYTHING!My hubby is in IT and can’t fathom why I don’t jump and update it the day it’s released... sometimes he bribes the kids to update their phones because they put it off for so long. ☺️
